Aurora was starting to droop a bit this morning. I figured since she was thirsty I would start introducing nutrients. I’m using General Hydroponics trio. Mixed up a starter batch:
My fingers are crossed she can drink her way out
Personally i wouldny have fed her because of her cots still looking greenish, i hope she takes it well for ya, i mean i gave up on coco, maybe i didnt give it a chance but i wasnt taking the chance of messing up so i went the easier route and soiled her.
I forgot to set to watching last time but im set now, i will start getting notifications
I think you used little enough nutes that they shouldn’t harm, but at this early stage the question is usually “water or not?” and nutes are secondary unless there is a specific water deficiency (like adding cal-mag for filtered or RO water)
I agree it’s perhaps a bit early for nutrients but the timing was right in the sense that she was thirsty and I’m not going to be around for a few days so I figured now was the best time considering the responsibilities and limitations ahead.
Also she has been so slow to make progress that I figured it’s time. I had actually planned to use soil to start since it is easier and generally more forgiving, but am trying coco first so I don’t get any bug issues. Thanks for watching and looking forward to more of your advice
I’m actually following a schedule that a friend has used successfully for several seasons now and these are the recommended amounts to use at around 7 days old. Aurora has been around for several weeks now and has a great root system but just slow to develop due to the initial light burn stunt.
Here is said schedule:
Here she about 9 hours after feeding:
Looks like she didn’t mind the nutes so far! I didn’t picture the tips of one finger and three finger since they are already light burned, but center growth looks good and significant for nine hours. I’m assuming that third set will have five fingers
I’m happy to report that Vida already pushed her taproot through the rapid rooter so I went ahead and placed her in a party cup of coco/perlite and added a bit of distilled water around the perimeter of the cup so she can go fetch
I’m using those rooters too, and since they are pretty much 100% I go ahead and have the rooter in the cup-o-dirt already just so the taproot doesn’t get exposed/damaged.
That sounds like a good idea actually, less manipulation and less chance of disturbing the taproot when it’s so little and fragile. I’ll do the same on the next batch.
I have just planted 2 Hindu Kush seeds from ilgm as well so I’ll set to watch.
@Ausgrow, sounds good! If you’re journaling also please tag me so I can watch as well
Will do brother
Just a quick no pic update for ya’ll. I ordered the Horticulture Lighting Group 135W QB V2 kit a few days ago. Unfortunately there were some delays in shipment… One thing I’ve been working on a lot in my recent years is taking a negative situation and turning it into a positive.
So, I took advantage of the fact that the shipment was delayed and instead of complaining about it, I canceled the order and placed a new one for the 260W QB V2 kit @ 3000K
It’ll dim to as low as 100W and the form factor lends itself to a better spread and even illumination of my current grow space: 36"x20"x62". So I figured what the heck! Now I can dim it for veg and go nuts when flower time comes.
The light might be a little bit overkill for my current space, but it’ll work great and it’ll allow me some headroom for when I increase the grow space. Notice I didn’t say “if” I increase the grow space, but I said “when”
Now it’s countdown time until it arrives!
I have the same thing arriving today !!! My space is only 2.5’ x 3’, so it’s perfect and hopefully I won’t need to buy another light until it dies.
Yep, the 260W will likely do great with your space! As I mentioned, I’ll have to run mine dimmed, my guess is you’ll have less headroom and will end up full blast in flower, but likely a little dim action during veg… but not sure what to expect honestly, so we shall see!
I’ve had some delays in shipping unfortunately and I’ve been trying to bug them a bit to see if it can be shipped out before the long weekend starts. Although I’m wondering if I’m loosing out on a potential Labor Day sale…
Either way, I did receive my UPS tracking last night but it’ll likely actually get shipped today. Fingers crossed! In reality, I just want to get them cause I’m like a kid on xmas morning, but my two little seedlings are pretty happy right now with the Taotronics bulbs I have running over them.
In a regular 8’ closet, I lose about 4" to the platform at the bottom, another 4" for the plant caddy set-up, and the exhaust fan at the top is probably a foot. I’ll have to see how it mounts. For now I can hang it from the closet rod that I moved to the very top of the closet, but in dire need I can mount it from the ceiling and rais it almost to the level of the fan and filter.
Right on. Looking forward to seeing how it integrates into your current setup.
Nice! Definitely do it over coffee vs beer Mine will likely arrive next week sometime. Hints, tips and notes on build would be cool!
posting on my grow.
