Most hands free medium, nutrients, and quickest strain

I’m wanting to gather information for myself and a friend’s mom to grow outdoors for the 1st time.

We’re in Ohio so Auto’s may be our best bet, although I’m probably going to throw a photo out to see how it goes.

I’m currently growing photos indoors and that grow won’t be completley done until late June.

I figured I could maybe start the seedlings of autos in the same tent as my flowering photos before I put them outside. Although I’m not sure how starting them out on 12/12 and then moving them outside will affect them.

I currently grow using coco indoors but don’t want to be so hands on with an outside grow and my friend’s mom is a complete novice.

What would be the easiest, most hands free, I’m guessing soil for an outside grow?

Nutrients? I currently use Advanced Nutrients pH Perfect, but I would like something simple but effective for soil and I would prefer something that balances the pH.

Quickest Autoflower Strain? I ask because I may try to make two runs.

Best time to 1st set out plants in West Central Ohio?

Best pot size?

My friend’s mom was saying hrr original thought was to just put a seed in her garden. How do you think that would turn out?

Any other tips for growing outdoors or for growing autos would be apreciated. Thanks.

Definitely container grow so you can move them if necessary. From there I’d use FFOF and top dress at flower.

Starting autos on 12/12 should be fine and id start them soon.

Happy B-Day. Thanks for the reply.

About what size container do you recommend for auto/photo outside?

What fertilizer would you recommend to top dress with?

Happy Birthday @Myfriendis410 ! Good luck on your autos grow outside. Please keep me in the loop of your grow I would like to follow. I would use a 5 gallon pot at least

There are a few folks on here that really have it down for outdoor growing. Let me tag a couple in that might help. @Big123 @Caligurl

I recommend container growing so you can move them around in the yard for free sunlight, or take them indoors if you get several days of rain. Bud rot is the biggest fear I’d have growing in Ohio. You’ll want to use every trick in the book to combat that.

Thanks for the Birthday wishes! Got to go to In-N-Out and got a new pair of boots haha!

Happy birthday :birthday:  :tada: @Myfriendis410

I agree with what @Myfriendis410 says as well. Grew one auto outside last year and lost 3 huge colas to rot.

Dang it! I missed your birthday @Myfriendis410! Happy Belated!

Yup, I agree with all above. Being able to have them mobile would be best because if they get too big, you won’t be able to keep them dry if needed. Our here in Cali, it’s not the moisture that causes most of our bud rot… its the caterpillars.

I start my plants inside inmid Apirl (this year, trying for the 11th because of the moon phase) then I transfer them outdoors in mid May. Unfortunately, half go straight into the dirt and the other half are in 45 gallon containers so I can’t move them

I’m not an autos person but I will run a few here and there just for giggles… they just don’t produce enough for me LOL… but it’s just me… I can’t seem to grow them.

Being in Ohio you got to know that you can still get in trouble for growing it outside!

(b) Cultivation or growing of adult use cannabis only takes place within a secured closet, room, greenhouse, or other enclosed area in or on the grounds of the residence that prevents access by individuals less than twenty-one years of age, and which is not visible by normal unaided vision from a public space.

Hate to see a fellow Ohioian get in trouble man!

I didn’t know that. Thanks for that. My neighbors would straight call the cops.

There goes that idea. I’ll be sure to pass that along to my friend’s mom.

Then again, if it’s in my fenced in backyard hidden from the street and sidewalks and only my neighbor can see it, I wonder if that would be considered out of vision of a public space.

Idk man I would say talk to your neighbor be safe rather than risk it. I’m not an expert on Ohio laws but I definitely wanted to share the orc so you or anyone who wants can check out the official law can.

Also not able to provide legal advice, but this stuff is typically pertinent to being viewed from public property. Being seen from a second floor window looking into your fenced property isn’t the same as being able to see it from the top of a slide in the park across the street, or seeing a plant extending above a fence from the sidewalk.

Legal or not, doesn’t mean neighbors couldn’t cause problems if they wanted to. If you already have issues with neighbors or you suspect that they strongly oppose cannabis may be flirting with disaster. But that’s ultimately up to you t[ determine risk factors.

This early in the legalization I would tread softly man. Don’t push it too far. They’ll find the loophole and get you if they can.

Yea that’s basically what I was saying no need to become a target. Get caught once they’ll definitely keep watching.

It’s definitely something to think about and I’m not sure if it’s worth the trouble.

Thanks for advice about it.

I have 2 Lambs Breath autos going right now in their own 10 gallon bags on a furniture dolly above :point_up_2: that are just staring to flower, I dropped the seeds 4/11/24…

I grow organic with living soil.

I have some photoperiod plants going too :evergreen_tree::crazy_face::flight_departure::rocket::peace_symbol: need to start journal for 2024 :rainbow:

My understanding is that it can’t be seen from a public place without binoculars. Lol. So from the street.
