@grizZz Yeah, that does sound like a great idea. My plan was to just wrap the cage around the tub and tie it down. Let the branches grow to the outside of the cages, and then grow vertically from there, tying the branches down as they grow up. I don’t believe my horizontal space will allow for the scrog type method you mentioned, considering how far apart we spaced the tubs. I’m thinking about spacing them a little farther apart for next year.
An she wiped your young ass for many years. Try not to forget it, listen to her & agree then go out an do it your way.
Listen bruh, there’s no disrespect with the comment initialized, as in, her method has worked for many many years. BUT…the comment was solely in the direction of understanding solar cycles and what is to come. Horizontal…might be the best option for many many people having to choose tween what’s important to grow and what’s luxury and if we stray from being realistic as growers then all focus is truly lost. There’s no age discrimination meant and I am truly sorry if anyone takes comments as such, either way farming speaks for itself and that’s all my comments reflect -good vibes-

@grizZz I don’t believe @pillsbury meant any disrespect in the comments, if I’m not mistaken?
Yea no disrespect taken sorry to burn your thread . Changing subjects, when you use those 30gal bags what size of plant do you expect. I’m trying to gauge just how big mine will get since it’s planted in the ground
No worries man!
This is actually my first year using these 30 gallon tubs. So, you’ll know as soon as I do! Haha
Oh snap…this is my first time growing in the ground with this particular plant . We’re in this together
Gotta love typical Missouri weather. Been 100° for 4 days straight, 75-80 overnight, to 75 during the day and 50 at night
But it looks like we’re finally going to be getting some rain!!
Well, I have a partial update.
Went to the field yesterday and tied down some branches on the big Ayahuasca Purple and was planning on doing the same to the OG Kush and get pics of everything, but I started hearing huffing sounds and footsteps about 20 min in, and after about 15 min of hearing this, I was out lol
Next time I’m bringing a gun!
The only one I managed to get a pic of was the AP and that was before I started tying branches down.
Finally got a chance to go out and tie the rest of the branches down on the 2 big girls. Ayahuasca Purple & OG Kush.
They’ve all grown quite a bit in the last 2 weeks.
The Blue Dreams started flowering earlier than expected. Don’t really expect much from them now, but it is what it is.
Next time I go out there I plan on putting a tomatoe cage around the Skunk. She’s grown quite tall and I know she will need support at some point, considering I’m not training her.
Everything is growing amazingly and I couldn’t be more excited about fall!
@Cannabian You were right. Continued training on this manifold outdoors is going to prove to be arduous haha
And the 3rd pic down is the one that was yellow for a while. She seems to be adjusting nicely.
I had 4 clones I took from the AP & OGK (2 ea).
3 of them didn’t take. So I’m down to 1 AP clone. So, I started the rest of my BD seeds to replace them. I’m determined to fill all 8 tubs this year!
Depending on the strain you dont need to do much of anything… just cage it.
These are bigger since I took this photo, but notice how wide they are? I mean, if I really wanted to thicken them up, I could pinch the tops, but they get too dense and prone to bud rot. Anyway, I wanna see what a single main cola up the center will weigh? Still have a while before they stretch so they should still hit 10 feet plus or minus.
Looks good. Come fall you might need to throw a trim party!
@Growyourown you’re gonna be busy soon
@Mr_Wormwood @grizZz That’s what I’m hoping for!
@Growyourown Morpheus said it best: I do not consider it a matter of hope…only a matter of time
This year is still experimental. I’m using a few different methods to see what works best. But it probably would’ve been a good idea to let them just grow through the cage instead of tying the branches down.
Next year the plan is to put a bamboo pole and a tomatoe cage on all 8 tubs at a 45° and just pull them back on the bamboo and let them grow through the cage.
