Ok, so after last year’s heartbreak of my plants getting trashed while I was on vacation, I was going back and forth as to whether or not I was going to grow this year again or just coast along with the bounty from the 2024 grow: Several ounces still left and in the freezer along with a litre of infused canna oil.
However, a couple months ago I was on the local First Nations reserve and bought some bargain cannabis.
Certainly nothing to write home about but at 28 CAD an ounce, definately worth scooping up for the price.
Only ‘downside’ was that it was twiggy with a lot of seeds, which sounds great until you looked at the seeds and realized all but maybe 5 of them were too immature to sprout properly.
Being bored in the middle of the long Canadian winter, I thought I’d try out some of the seeds to see if I could get anything to actually sprout..
I got two to sprout but ended up leaving them too long in the paper towel and the taproots got damaged and the seedlings didn’t take.
A couple weeks ago, I found one that looked good, I tried it and lo and behold:
February 25th
Fast forward about a week or so and:
March 5th:
image100%75%50%So, there we are in the first week of March.
My worry right now is that I’m still realistically about 10 weeks away from planting this outside and I really am not sure what this plant will look like by the end of May.
Right now, the plant’s in a pot that will allow it to grow somewhat but not get too big and maybe that’s what I need right now, a smaller plant until I can move it into its “Forever” home (well, until mid October I assume)
However, after so many false starts and then early deaths, I am hopeful that this at least will give me something.
Soil’s a pretty generic organic potting soil with some perlite and some compost-based amendments, so I feel we’re good for now.
