It’s basically a larger much better version of the Source Turbo. Just distilling the ethanol, leaving Merlin with our beloved OIL.
How quickly did it run through your dry run @merlin44? I have the eToh from Extractcraft, but when the day comes, I’ll switch over to Troys system. It just looks like it needs tidying up. Not your set up per say, but his design. So many components for a minimalist like me.
Thanks for chiming in @AfgVet
I ran about 1 liter through for my “dry run”. It took a little less than an hour. I was fooling around with heat settings so likely took just a little longer than a “real” run of the same volume.
If all goes well, I expect to do a wash later today and run about 2 liters. I will keep track of the time and report back.
As far as all of the individual components, they do take up more space than an integrated system. From reading on his WEB site, it seems that Troy intends for the various components to serve multiple functions in the kitchen.
I am taking advantage of the component system as I will connect the vacuum pump (via the Recovery Vessel) to my Buchner flask/funnel to speed up the filtering process before “jar tech” decarb. I don’t know that I will use any of it in the kitchen.
I may purchase the small version of the Loading Vessel and lid for small batches. Not sure yet. Need to do a few runs to really understand how I will use the system.
We performed our first QWET yesterday. Without experience, I don’t know how successful it is. Mrs Merlin was a bit tired after we finished the was so will run it through the still later this morning.
