Looks good. Be careful about watering. No watering is necessary at all until the humidity domes are removed.
So we bought the fruity mix. Been a couple days and didn’t see growth out of banana. After poking around with a pick I found a larger piece of material fell over the seedling. It broke the root. I am currently regerming a new seed.
Our first test subject was a mystery seed that turned out to be male. I have a lot of pics on that one. A good thorough beginner’s journal I’ll eventually post that will be most helpful for new beginners such as myself.
So a quick update on my broken taproot banana. I gently aligned it to itself, patting soil around it. Hour later and it’s actually unfurling. Bad pic but maybe it’ll live…?
Ya never know. Giver her a chance… see what she does. Might actually be ok…
So an update, seems like if you sever a taproot in half, similar to a branch, if you line it up and stabilize it, seems like they will recover. Just in case I had started another seed.
So its been a couple days since last post, they seem so be doing good, especially the banana with the severed tap root!
Started with its first round of big bloom for the original 3. Just water and cal/ mag for the little guy in the left. The front right is the banana that split from the taproot and it seems to be the hardiest.
I’m in need of opinions please. I Use a gallon water/feed I’ll water slowly until it’s pouring into my catch pan. Now because I have a wicking system, I let it sit full for a couple days and it either evaporates and/or absorbs up into the plant. Should I just dump the excess if I’m just going to continue feeding from the top? Also, I get the schedule of water water feed water feed… but should I let the soil dry out at all or just literally water them everyday as the schedule suggests?
Anyways, these are the girls, I haven’t watered them and skipped yesterday’s watering and this evening’s mainly because they seem happy and there is still a lot of moisture in the soil as well as the basins show sign of absorption/ evap. Opinions?
On my previous grow I did let the soil dry to prevent root rot. I think I’m going to stick with what I did before and just drain out the catch pan and let the soil dry afterwards.
Been pretty much sticking with the routine. Did drain the runoff. These pics were from a couple days ago after a good feeding and a watering.
