Male or Female? Please help!

I only know what I have read, and what I have read tells me that you don’t want to take ANY chances when it comes to pollination. I think that having a male plant anywhere near my female would be unacceptable, and a risk not many growers would be willing to take. That’s my two cents, but I would be interested in hearing more on the subject from some of the experts on this site. @dinoKid @Budbrother @MBgrower @Stomper @Drinkslinger @blackthumbbetty @Humanclone @Countryboyjvd1971 @tanlover442 @raustin

I agree completely. Unless you’re planning to breed you don’t want measles around your females. Males serve little purpose, kill it.

Experienced growers will keep males around for seeding purposes. One small male will spew enough pollen to seed an acre of females…with just a few pollen sacks. Dun take no chances.

If you have females and want a good harvest…

KILL, KILL, KILL…ALL MALES!!! KILL, KILL, KILL, KILL…TAKE NO PRISONERS!!!

Just the way it is…:cowboy_hat_face::star_struck::hugs::thinking::vulcan_salute::v::v:

I haven’t seen @Usmcjojo chime in, but since he has bred his own strains of seeds and had some pollination issues in a controlled environment, he would be the one to listen to.

pollen can and will stick to your hair think of yourself as a giant bee @PhantomFarmer and any branch you touch there after will be accidentialy pollinated. thats how i ended up with more seeds than planned.

That plant is a hermie get rid of it it will only make hermaphrodite seeds.

It’s in the bin and I have a new seedling sprouted. The blueberry auto I have is definitely a girl, she’s sprouted those white pistils :slightly_smiling_face:

No measles in my crops. Inoculate, aniolate, assasinate all measles.

It’s interesting, I raise males on a regular basis and it doesn’t take much effort to not pollinate things I don’t want pollinated. Every situation is different, I suppose.

I have several fem plants. One turned into a hermaphrodite. It caused seeds to grow on some nearby plants. If I take seeds off those, will they be fem or am I just taking chances?

I did the math. with a 10+10free deal, I paid $5.45 for a seed that is guaranteed with a replacement if needed. I’ll skip that next beer at the pub and buy another seed :wink:

The orthodoxy says that any plants from those seeds will tend to hermie. I have no direct experience but they should be feminized if they didn’t get pollen from some other source. I’d grow every one of them out and see how it goes to see for myself.
