Main Cabinet Evolution

Week5 since the flip starts today.

She’s eating & drinking more, & the res got a 1-gal partial change yesterday, & will get another one on Tuesday. PPMs were ~825 & pH ~6.1 after addback this morning.
I also increased the lamp voltage to hit ~850-865ppfd around the tallest tops, & I moved the wall-Thermpro up about 1/2" to stay even with the tallest tops. The stretch seems to be over.
Wall Thermpro, past week:

Pruned some bottom leaves, & worked with insulation sticks to push things around slightly:

Pics from the night before the chop:
Roots! :

The bucket was around 525ppm & 6.2pH at the end.

The main in the rear-center got really floppy for the last few days, even after additional support:

I pruned the yellow leaves & stems after the chop:

Made these plus a dozen more, added 5g of decarbed frozen P88 160-grade bubble hash:

Recipe calls for softened butter, but I just used the melted canna-butter after making it. Just makes for chewier & flatter cookies. This was second-pull 160g hash, but it was made from buds & not just trim, & was still nice & chewy as I broke it up into the melting butter. 5g turned out to be a little much, probably could have gone with 4 or maybe even 3.5g. The hash flavor is a little strong in these, & they are also pretty strong with the effects! One would have been fine for me, but I ate three or four last night, so got pretty blasted. This was the first time I decarbed before weighing for usage, so I wasn’t sure how much to go with exactly.

The buds are pretty dense…

…so last night I went through & pruned off most of the lower side-branches with buds, & some of the lower buds off of the main colas, & strung them up along the back, just to give the mains some more breathing room. I also have the anti-RH exhaust fan set fairly low at 61%, & ambient RH is pretty low so I should be able to take advantage of that. Right now ambient temps could be anywhere from 60f to 70f, depending on the day.

The Main Cab is almost ready for the Janice clone to be installed, probably tomorrow.

Janice clone installed:

Plant prep was easy, removed & replaced the top layer of lava, removed the outer pot, flushed with nute solution, & then installed into the bucket (after unclamping & tilting & securing the screen out of the way), & I just left the existing roots in place. I had pruned the roots about a week ago. I never did have to do a net-pot removal & full root-ball pruning on this one when it was in the Mini Cab, but it has had a few external root prunings along the way.
Roots! :

Bucket is the same as what it was getting in the Mini Cab, ~310ppm on 4th week factory veg ratio plus some calmag, h2o2, & 'tussin90, & I did add a drop of superthrive/ gallon. pH adjusted down to ~6.1. Made a little error when adjusting down by adding four drops of up before realizing, but probably not a big deal.

Seven main branches to position, I chopped one off by accident a while ago, probably going to try for some sort of ‘3-1-3’ formation tomorrow:

Wall Thermpro, past 24h:
RH controller is set to 65% RH.

The light is running at a low-enough power that I might still need the plate heaters to start off maintaining a low 70f’s average. I have the t-stat for them set to 73f & -2f slope. This is around where the Mini Cab has been running recently.

The light is ~12" above the screen, & the dimmer is set to give me ~275 ppfd (on my ‘non e-par’ meter) at the center of the screen. This is a little more that what it was seeing in the Mini Cab.

Light is 24/0, shooting to flip to 12/12 within 7 to 10 days…

Wrangled the tops into place:

Small correction from last post, the light is set to make 175 ppfd at the top of the screen, not 275.

Seven days in the bucket, & time for another 1-gal partial res-change. PPM is ~330, pH is ~ 6.1 .
Roots! :

Temps have been a little cool to start with, so she’s been a little slow to get going. I might have to wait a little longer than I had been planning before I flip this one.

Thermpro, wall, past week:

I’ve added a Sochting Oxydator Mini to the res (using one pellet). More for the summer months, but may as well start using it now :

Top-down:

I’ve increased the light wattage to bring PPFD to ~275 on my meter at screen level in the center.
Side view:

I removed most fan & sugar leaves from the stuff in the drying cab, & froze them to make bubble hash in the future. I also added a pan of water to keep things from drying out too quickly:

Ten days in the bucket, so I did a full res-change today.
Roots! :

Same veg ratio as before, PPM ~370, pH ~6.1. I’ve been slowly raising the PPM since last post. Not sure how much longer i’ll keep her in veg, but probably another week or so. The Sochting Oxygenator is in the bottom left corner of the pic. It had gone through about 1/3 of the H2O2 in the bottle, so I refilled it.

Top-down: I removed the lowest fan leaf off of each main stalk (7 total).

Thermpro, wall, past week:

I reduced RH target by 2% a couple days ago.
Cab temps are going to fluctuate with the fluctuating ambient temps. I still haven’t seen enough heat to set my high-temp exhaust fan but I’ll probably set it around 82f.

Today I increased the light wattage to make ~300 PPFD at the tops.

1-gal partial res-change today, roots! :

They may be hard to see, but there are a number of fresh roots sprouting. PPM ~400, pH ~6.3 after the change.

I turned up the light to give ~340 PPFD at the tops, also adding enough heat to where the temp fan started running regularly today, dumping ~82f.
Wall Thermpro, past week:

Leaf temp offset is still only around 0 or -1 or -2 depending on when I check, but should start widening more as the leaves & roots grow. She’s still not transpiring very much yet.

The tops are working on their third sets of nodes:

The flip should be soon, either with the next partial res change in four days (in which case I would do a full change with nute ratio change), or with the next scheduled full res-change in 7 days.

Quick upodate, April 1st marks the first day of the flip, & a full res & nute ratio change.
Roots! :

PPMs are around 540, pH was 6.4 going in, & fell to ~ 6.3 by this morning. PPFD is ~420. I also reduced the RH target by 1.5%.

I seem to have stressed her out with too much nutes &/or light &/or temperature fluctuations. Hopefully she pushes through & ends up doing well.
Top-down:

Trimmed & jarred the last haul. No mold, & I got around ~6.5oz. The Blueberry smell in the Janis is very nice:

Wednesday = one week since the flip & a 1-gal partial res-change.
Roots! :

PPM ~580, pH ~6.1 after topping off. The Soching Oxygenator Mini seems to be good for a week before needing an H2O2 refill. Not sure if it’s doing a whole lot, but it should be adding a small amount of dissolved O2 into the water.

Top-down:

Stretching upwards:

Underneath:

I removed most of the curly training wires & installed some foam insulation pieces to push the stalks in more of a straight upwards direction. A couple have green wire hooks pulling them closer to where I want them.

Wall Thermpro, past week:

This one gets moved upwards to try & stay even with the tallest tops as they stretch. Ambient conditions have been mostly cooler still, so the box is still having trouble building a lot of heat. I have the heaters turned down to reduce power usage a little bit. Also I’ve been raising the light as the plant has stretched, which can cause it to take longer to heat up overall down by the plant, even though I’ve been raising the wattage as well. The leaves have been running around a -3f offset.

PPFD ~575 at the tops, it should be around 650 for week2 according to the charts, but I’ve been trying not to shock them too much & have been raising the nutes & PPFD slowly.

Ten days since the flip & time for a full res-change.
Roots! :

I bumped the PPMS from ~540 to ~650. pH is ~6.3 after the res-change, had been around 6.1 before.

Top-down:

Stretching ~ 1/2" per day for now:

I pruned off the lowest leaves & bud sites from the main stalks & side-branches.

Underneath:

Continuing to work with the insulation sticks to help keep the stalks more upright.

Thermpro, wall, past week:

Main temp exhaust fan is dumping at ~81.5f, but it’s not having to activate very often yet. Most air-exchage is still courtesy of the anti-RH fan.

PPFD is ~630 - 650 at the tops which should be around where the dli chart suggests for this week. I’ll probably want to raise the light a couple inches tomorrow due to the stretch to keep ~10" between the tops & the light, & then I’ll increase the dimmer to maintain PPFD.
