2 of my girls are showing signs of magnesium calcium defiancy. I haven’t treated this yet. It’s only on 2 leaves on both plants. The other plants are okay so far. Do I use Epsom salt at this stage if so how much. I don’t want to use nitrogen as my bergmans flowertime I’m using is N-15 P-6 K-30. I have ordered oilycann earth juice don’t know to use it when it comes in or how much as it’s nitrogen free. But will Epsom salt work for now and how much and how often should I use. My ph levels are good. Thanks
@MrPeat @DivChem @dbrn32 @Covertgrower
can you help this grower out…
I use Cal-mag as needed. I have never used epsom salt so I can’t help there.
me either maybe @Myfriendis410 will know
Help is here.
There’s directions on the bottle, but I don’t exactly remember what dosage is recommended. I think its 1-2 tsp per gallon.
Going through your entire post, are you sure it’s a magnesium deficiency? What ppm is your solution before applying to the plant? May not necessarily be a magnesium issue, as could just be underfed in general.
Epsom would work too, 1 tsp per gallon.
I’d get some CalMag, should always have some on hand, epsom salts only have the mag, no cal.
Maybe a good picture of the issue and an overall of the plant? In natural/white light…
Calmag is a necessity if not using super soil. And sometimes even using it. Calcium moves thru the plant very slowly. Magnesium moves way faster. Epsom Salt is ( Salt of the earth). Works kinda like sand paper on the roots (not scientific definition) So, you can add a pinch or two of E salt per gal of water maybe every other watering. Personally, I use Calmag each watering @ 5ml per gal. Calcium is a must for growing weed. Recommend purchasing a bottle.( Amazon). All I can say. Use it. Disclaimer. I’m not a horticulturist but I know good weed…
Damn dope smoking hippie freaks…
Yep, a picture in white light would be really helpful in diagnosing your issues.
Oilycann is completely nitrogen free. I keep it on hand in case I see calcium deficiencies late in flower. If it’s just magnesium I use epsom salt. The sulfur in it supposedly helps increase terpenes as well…
And just to be clear, Epsom is not used to address calcium defs but magnesium and sulfur (I’ve used it as a terpene enhancer). If you need calcium you’ll have to supplement with cal mag.
There’s the picture above. My other plant starting to do it as well. 3 -4 weeks into flower. She’s an autoflower girl scout cookie extreme. Ph going in is 6.5. Coming out is 6.2-6.4. I’m using happy frog soil. They been in their medium since germination. I have them on 12-12 light schedule but I hear u don’t need light schedule for auto. Not sure if this is calcium or magnesium. I notice my leaves toward the buds are starting to do this as well. I have earth juice oily cann coming Sunday. Don’t know the strength to use or even use it at all. Does calimag have nitrogen? Don’t know if this is my problem but 1 of my other plants doing it as well. Thanks for input. I just don’t wonna lose my buds lol
@dbrn32 he’s got red stems what did you tell me caused that? Magnesium, potassium or phosphate?
That stem been red for a few weeks. Had high humidity then. I got dehumidifier solved that as humidity at 40 now. the other one’s don’t have red stems and it’s doing it as well. Towards the top of plant. Don’t know why
They can be red for a lot of reasons, if its nutrient deficiency probably phosphorus or magnesium.
I wouldn’t worry as much about red stems as I would condition of the leaves. The ph looks good, has meter been calibrated recently? Also wondering if ppm data has checked?
