MAC Stomper - Week 5 Veg (Transplant to Purple Cow)

Kind of a long post, but I decided to keep this here kind of for my own purposes, but to also maybe get advice and help out others.

Obviously she was thirsty. Been too afraid of over-watering after I gave my first plant root rot.
I knew she needed a transplant soon and decided to wait until after I transplanted to water.

This is how I learned a dry ass plant is hard as balls to get out of a fabric pot

After some research I was originally going to transplant into a 7 gallon with Coast of Maine and then add some Dr. Earth bud and bloom at day 50. Buttt, I didn’t want to pay for shipping and the closest store that had Stoningtons blend was 50 miles away.

So went the hydro store down the street & left with a 15 gallon smart pot, tray, 2 bags of Purple Cow and some recharge for $40 otd. (Better than the $40 for one bag of CoM plus $40 for gas, all for dirt).

Saw the mixed reviews but the dudes in the store said the guy from Michigan drove down and dropped off a couple bags. Hydro store dudes said he was a home grower who formulated it for weed, so thought fuck it. Figured Im gonna try one of each soil eventually so might as well start somewhere.
They also had Ocean Forest, Happy Frog, Michigan seed, veg, and bloom soil (all which were about the same price), as well as most nute lines.

I have the setup in my 2 x 2 x 4. Light is still 18 - 19 inches away from the LSTd canopy and PPFD is perfect. I’m aware it’s tight, but she’s being put in a flower tent in about 2 weeks.

Both bags filled up about 85 percent of the pot. Put a good amount of perlite in (I know I shouldve used pumice or something). I added light amounts of water as I was filling her up to get the bottom half moist. Not sure if I should have done that

I wanted to fill the pot so I filled the last maybe inch with Happy Frog.

**can someone let me know if adding the top inch of happy frog is okay…if not I’ll take it off

Once I transplanted I watered with a gallon of tap water (sat out for 24 hours) with cal mag & recharge ph’d to 7.

**Before I transplanted I cut off a couple of the huge bottom leaves that were blocking airflow and had deficiencies.

**Kinda worried that with the transplant and light (maybe 10% defoliation) all in the same night that she might herm from the stress. It’s my first grow so I’m not 100% what stress causes plant to here and why.

If she survives though I’m thinking she will go berserk once I put her in the 3 x 3 x 6 with an HLG 260 RSpec.

I’m going to try the purple cow on my next grow in a few weeks. I have heard good things from 2 people so far.

Update!

Watered after I transplanted. She was thirsty going in.
