Trying something different this go around. Put a 90deg bend in the main stalk yesterday and today it has completely straightened up. When should the next bend occur? Now or wait for more upward growth? Going for a spiral trunk.

You have to tie them over or use lawn staples. You can break the stem and it will still straighten back up.

Understood. That being said and based on the pics, do I need to start another tie down or wait a little while longer until it grows more before the next bend?
You could do another tie down now every 2-4 days depending on growth rate is my recommendation I adjust ties on this clone every few days you just don’t want to let the stem get to woody before the next adjustment you want to do it while the new growth is young and pliable
