Long veg, first scrog

Looks like a masterpiece in the making. Excellent work. Try to get a fan under the canopy blowing up and as they progress make sure you are defoliating along the way, stay on top of all the little suckers that pop in at the lower nodes.

Ok…so heres what i did… i hope i didnt over prune. I thinned out anything thick and anything not dirextly feeding a site.
Before. …

After

Keep going??

It looks good! Let them ride til your further into flower

@Low thx! They responded well to the defol. Out of curiosity…im running 2 hlg600Rspecs and a peripheral 200Rspec at 100%…what is a good height to maintain? I hadnt moved the light in a long time, im 5’8 (68")and i hit my head on it alot. The plants come to about my armpit…so thats about, maybe a foot…making the canopy very close to that light…i raised them a few inches…scrogging got me a pretty damn even canopy for the first time ever. Day 19, the stretch gotta be slowing down, they wont take on much more lateral growth now, right? Sites are def set. Would you recommend taking out the sites under the screen? Or are those going to cintinue to reach the screen and make good buds? What about the sites under the primary? Im over drying and trimming useless bud. Does it really make the main bud(s) better/bigger/denser to take off everything, essentially creating 1 good bud per site? A lot of lateral branch growth that the scrog allowed produced a bud but the other stuff lower than that will never have produced anything useful. I feel like taking the popcorny puffs off has to help the main bud…in the beginning i wanted all and every piece, im learning to select, but i dont want to stunt or injure the plant by taking off things if its not helping the terminal bud? With scrogging, will all the buds be “colas”? Correct me if im wrong, but a COLA is a collection of buds that grow into one thick dense bud, no? The buds i got going seem like only the terminal buds will produce…how will they “stack”? Or am i misunderstanding the process of scrog?

I’d like to help reach a good hanging height but I need to know the size of the plant/screen or space you are trying to cover. Sorry if this has already been mentioned.

When the stretch stops and they start focusing on the bud production id try to make an effort to chop an bud sites lower than 10” from the top of the canopy. You will find yourself removing things as they progress, as you will be able to see what will be dense and what won’t.

Anyone know about growing mushies? I have a problem and cant fimd a tag! Please help if you can

@Low Yea, i feel like every other day im pruning. My fingers stuck together rn. Im not tucking anymore…the buds look set to me, i dont wanna stunt or slow them. My nutes and lights (pretty much) jave been dialed in mostly perfect…pH and PPM in range. Ive been following a monitoring chart and adding micros and balancing NPk. ( i think i should back off N, my fans may be a lil dark?) The hydro and scrog are my firsts but pruning always stresses me. Im getting better…didnt touch em in veg, really. They were perfect. So now i cant see thru and im 3wks in flower. Will they take longer bc i vegged so long? Can i keep defoling and remiving what isnt getting light underneath the canopy. Little branches and off shoots. When should i stop? When it stops?

One more problemo on my mind…i cant tell if im getting some bleaching or if its getting frosty. Diff light intensity gives off diff color…ill post pics. Hand is there to show hiw big the fans are. Could N imbalance or Phos be too high? ppm at 1250ish…i know things start at the tips, this is for sure around the bases…or is this just normal? My net is 58"x 31". Lights are 2 (100% power) hlg 600R and a 200R. IM AT 21" MOST OF CANOPY. I accidentally, due to these pics, left the lighta at 30%. They were lower, 16-18"(…so thats why i rhought maybe too close) i raised and put them at 70% and ill get back to 100%. Oops. Dammit.

Looks awesome from the pics. It’s hard to give advice on further defoliation right now. Kinda gotta let them flow for a while. Nutrient levels appear to be fine, however you can tell better than anyone else will be able to from pics! When the flowers start stacking and getting denser it will be easier to pick and choose what to keep. I kind of ride this line myself. I try to keep the thickness of the canopy at max 8-10” that doesn’t always mean solid dense buds all the way through. I always miss some. :man_shrugging: We all also will have different levels of “what’s acceptable” in terms of bud density and so on. You will see what I mean when you get to that point. Flowering times should not be affected at all. Wouldn’t worry about that! As for light bleaching, the buds will literally look white, not like trichomes, like you got bleach on it. All I see from the pics is trichomes unless I’m missing something. The lighter color leaves? Could rapid growth and still filling chlorophyll. Keep an eye on it. :call_me_hand:t3: you are doing a great job. it’s really cool seeing the other plants in the background too.

Oh thank you so much! They are growing very fast! Ill have to measure my canoy when the lights go on.

Those are my hydro tomatoez, strawberries and cucumbers. Did not know that cucs needed pollinators so i…um…hand pollinated and hit em with a commercial fan to TRY. i got a few. Lots of male flower. Upped the P and K 2 days ago and got a bunch of females to try doing today. Round 1 worked…lol. i have a pvc project outside with lettuce that keeps malfinctuoning w h20 levels, but i think its solid now.

Just wanna show you My other tent, autos…my bf and i are trying in bato buclets…, in full bloom. Heavily defoled, lollipopped wothout trying. Lol. 5" colas. A WW monster is his problem child taking over. Im about to defol it. He did a good job.

Very nice. Makes me want to try some indoor veggies!
Plants look great, and that WW had some massive buds. Awesome. You guys have your hands full!

Hey @Low

Howya doing?? Im good. Tx…loloolol

So i just entered week 4 and these plants are growing in thick. I removed leaves that were affected by whatever had happened and noticed how thick they are coming in. The canopy air is sticky…lol. i feel like its crowded…like i could thin out a lot and defol, but im watching these things swell and im afraid to intereupt. Whatcha think?

This is under the canopy…and the (nute stained) root mass. I know it looks ugly, but its healthy…

Heya looking great. Wicked root system!! The thicker the canopy the more you defol to avoid moisture build up between leaves. I’d recommend a fan blowing up at the bottom side of the canopy if you don’t already. Your under shots look great, some places are really dark, work on those spots. You can get rid of most the fan leaves that have a stem like this

^ specially if they are supporting a “branch” that’s mature coming out at the same node. The only time I delay removing fans is when they are supporting a developing bud sight, but most of those get removed later on.

You can get rid of any long skinny branches that are trying to reach the top. Or you can wait and see if they develop. Hard for me to really tell size and where they reach.

Like these

You will slowly be “weeding” them out as you progress through the flowering stage. It will become obvious on what is worth your time. The trick is to try and predict what’s going to matter early as you can to let the larger sites thrive. It’s an on going learning situation.

Fans like this should be removed

Try to keep buds uncovered and not touching leaves to avoid any moisture build up, and they get direct light exposure.

Thank you! All the buds are swelling, but there are small ones, thtat look like they will never make it, especially a node or 2 away from the terminal bud. They will end up fluffy and cute, but they dont dry to even being worth trimming off. I have a strong fan pointing under the canopy…what i want to do is continue removing fans and sites…but i just dont want to slow down her growth at the terminal buds. Ive got this fear with pruning evee since i over lst’d outdoor autos. I way stunted them. Then my next crop was too many and i needed room so i went out on my own and, once again, overpruned. I end up with not so big colas. Lots of undesirable stuff i
turned into butter…lol. I understand way more about cannabis, and im constamtly trying new things and finding better ways…ill see whats what later! Thanks!!

I wouldn’t be too worried  but you can always remove some here and there. Doesn’t have to be all at once. I pretty much remove something every time I’m in the garden. Gotta get comfortable with it. :call_me_hand:t3:

Thanks so much! Im gonna go in in a few!! I really appreciate your help. Got my blue labs truncheon today and the other enhancements i ordered…plus my soil feeds…am about to mix my feed. Popped a few photos and ordered a few more so i can fill up the veg tent. Summer crop about ready to bring outside!

Jealous! Haven’t pulled the trigger on the truncheon yet, still want it.:sunglasses::call_me_hand:t3:

I spent a while last night in there. I did a res chamge and it balanced out to 2.0 ec and pH was perfect. This morning everytging was still in target range. Leaves that werent fans became fans overnight. And the fan under is now circulating up through the canopy. I can see the weak and wiggly fans that need to go. Im takung pics and measuring and monitoring spme buds now and they def responded to the trimming in a good way. Compared to the smaller sites, the ones i shpuld focus on are apparent. Using p
Tds and now ec is a game changer instead of just pH. Even thi i thought my ppm was good, the ec was off. So much easier to learn how response works/will work when the plants are balanced correct. I become efficient quickly when i can understand something. Its easier to picture the plants health progress if i understanding their growth progress. Thank yiu for everything! Its so
This is before and after pruning last night

This is last night pruned

And this morning…i can see the lil fans got big enough to prune.

Looks gorgeous. Great work!

So my lights ppfd is 1400 to 1600 is that too high? Im using photone app. Was checking seedlings (270ishppfd)
and thought id check the scrog. PH is good, ec/ppm good…im still seeing that yellowishness… Temp 80 RH around 65 right now (lights been on less than an hour tho)

If my ec and all is stable, how would i know what might be lacking? Say she needs more manganese or iron…(.which i can get from nutes, obviously) how would i know thats what it is if im balanced? They should getting everytging they need…
