Little brown mushrooms

I am growing in a organic soil (potted) outdoors and have little brown mushrooms popping up. I have never had them before in all the years I have been growing. It has rained for the last 3 days and the soil is wet.
Has anyone ever seen or had this happen?

LBMs is a whole area of mushroom science. They are hard to identify due to their vast number. So its not surprising you see some pop up in good soil. Your dirt is active with life as it should be. I might dig out the spot and just go on. Its not dangerous per say but you don’t want anything to take over the entire pot.

Thanks for that link!
These are not much bigger then pencil eraser. I have seen them else where in the woods on rotten logs.
I would post a picture but I have already removed them, will see if more come up.

Depending on your medium and organic amendments, some fungus can be a sign of healthy soil. Many organics contain fungal inoculants, that work with the bacteria to better breakdown nutrients. But also, some can be not so friendly. You probably did well removing them, growing outside. Inside it would probably be the from the medium.

I welcome mushroom growth in my soil

I used to grow tomatoes in straw bales, and would get mushrooms all the time. It was a sign that the straw was a perfect environment. I wouldn’t worry about it.

I normally do too, but have never seen this type before.
I mixed worm castings into my organic soil this time, wonder if it is from that.

Yep, mushrooms in the soil make me happy. I just check that I am not overwatering if they keep popping up.

Not those unfortunately. BUT, about 25 years ago when i was getting out of the hog business, i bought a herd of cattle from my neighbor who got laid off. That was back before they started spraying the feed to kill spores. On top of that i grew my own feed. Made for some killer shroom factories. When the temps amd humidity were on point… bam! Harvest time!

With a little mushroom compost in your worm poop. Read this

Mushroom compost is a good option as bedding material for composting worms . The mushroom compost is mostly used as housing for the worms rather than as a food supply. Mushroom compost helps to reduce acid buildup in the worm bin, which is a natural side effect of the decomposing organic material.

I had the same issue once. It also seems to get into my own worm bin naturally

We use to walk the fields after rains and pick paper bags full. I miss those days

My soil is made from yard and kitchen waste turned into compost, this year I added worn castings for first time in years and those little mushrooms showed up.

Seems whether they are already in it or not they find it due to it’s rich nature. They love it, it’s really not an issue unless you get hundreds of them. You know you got some fire dirt when u see shrooms.
