Does your basement ever take on water? do you already dehumidify?
I went 5 gallon for yields. I was planning on 6-10 week veg cycles. Now I’m gonna have to try to just go all 3 gallon pots and drop to 4-7 weeks. I do not like fabric pots because you seem to loose a lot of water/feed when the soil is dry and hard
Yes and no. Lol. That’s why the raised floor on concrete blocks. I plan on getting dehumidifiers for the grow rooms down the road. Sooner than later
Personally, I prefer pots that don’t have a drip dish attached. I like Pro Cal. They’re rugged, and come in all nursery sizes.
I’m adamant about draining pots so I do not have to worry so much about root rot.
Like I mentioned, this is my “job” now so sopping up runoff(WHEN I get some) is not a problem
My concern there is that whatever you build to create partitions is going to get soaked. It’s solvable, but it could be an issue.
Yes it would, in a sense. But both “ends” of the 8’ section are concrete block foundation walls. So the exit from veg would have to be on the outer side
Is there a case for starting with one or two of the lights you recommend, buying a Vivosun tent in the right size for that light, and addressing underlying yield issues before scaling up?
I can make a case for keeping that plant count low in a less-than-legal situation. A low plant count argues it’s for personal use only.
I’m trying to understand your basement layout. Can you make a rough sketch showing the walls, interior partitions, and stair locations? I’m currently picturing a 19’x19’ room with a cinderblock divider splitting it down the middle, but with a 4’ gap on one end.
No! No! The back half, where I’m at, only has a big doorway going into the garage(other half) and the stirs are above the parked vehicle
The room I’m in is approximately 30’ x 19’ x 8’ 2”-just a big open rectangle/square room with a post in the middle of the room
I’m not too concerned about legal issues as I have no reason to even attract any attention. That statement, alone, has made me the most nervous since I’ve started about 2 years ago
No tents! They build way too much heat
I actually have my buddies 2 tents now. One 4’ x 4’ one 4’ x 8’
Pretty sure I got the yield thing down too. Junk seeds/plants, bag seed
Now I’m cloning and running good genetics
Where is the door to the garage in relation to the grow area? Across the room?
@dbrn32, @KeystoneCops, yellow lines are concrete foundation walls. I placed the red doorway on the outer side to the open room. From that wall to the garage doorway will be right around 9.5’ from the outside of the new grow room front wall
Sorry if my comment about that statement making me nervous was offensive!!
My medical record gives me enough “legal wiggle room” if it ever became an issue. I was in a near-fatal car crash 15 years ago that TECHNICALLY crippled me, though I worked until 4 years ago. Also gave me major mental qualifying reasons for a medical card I just have to get one. Been told by all my physicians throughout the years they’d prescribe it if it were legal, to me.
Sorry again!!
I didn’t take offense. No worries.
Maybe. There was volume discount on strips calculated on my pricing estimate, but it’s not a ton of money. Imo, the biggest issue I see with yield is lighting. Parts I recommended are tried and true, as is the method. To me, there is a lot more left in the open for genetics and grower ability. Relatively inexperienced growers growing random stuff hit a gram per watt like this regularly. That’s 300 grams per light, 6 lights is harvesting one every 10ish days on 8-9 week strains. I would say maybe @LFoux would need a little bit of time dialing everything in, but more experienced growers are hitting 1.5+ gpw pretty easily.
Sort of. But it’s kinda “inverted”. Short side from wall-to-wall is where the grow room will be and long wall is where the garage doorway is. But yes, just like that
