I’m scaling up my operation and I’m moving into a
60"x60"x80" tent. I was calculating and I need 1250watts of light due to the square footage and I’m looking to get the phantom II phb2010 1000w ballast and a cheap air cooled hood and lights. This is different from my first set up and I had a couple of questions regarding all of it. Since I’m going to not grow out to the edges because I need to account for fans and a possible humidifier would there be an issue with not providing enough light to the plants? I also was wondering if anyone has this ballast and could tell how they feel about it or if the yield lab 1000w is any good? I appreciate any and all comments.
Welcome to ILGM. You said you are scaling up to a 5x5, it is a nice size, you can allow them to spread a little more!
If you take a foot off each side as room for your apparatus, that will give you 16 sqft. and about 800 watts required. Should cover well with 1000 watt light. I do not have experience with that light.
Depending on the canopy depth and thickness, you might need or just like to get some side lights with the bigger tent. I used drop down CFL’s in my tent in the corners and it helped the lower buds expand. I have a small LED that I will use now If I can ever get my tent back up again.

Thanks for the input. I’ll definitely post pics once I complete the set up. I’m positive that I’ll have a few more questions in the future but, I’ll wait until I get all the supplies and see where I’m at.
To plan the amount of light needed: Number of square feet x 35 for LED, Number of square feet x 50 for MH/HPS
