Does the levo not decarb? I thought it did?
It does. Not a qp though.
So let me re phrase that then, if you decarb with it, does it stink up the house?
Oh hey, I just pulled thebtops off the black Afghan, got a full wheelbarrows worth . The plant is still in the ground and Im hoping I can keep it alive while the tops dry. Then I plan to heavily prune it, dig her up and try to reveg her in the grow room. Get some clones
A bit. Not bad ar all. Hard to hide that smell. Nowhere near an oven.
Yep, agreed. The wife doesnāt like the smell, so I just run it in my garage. I do smell it, but itās not that bad.
My wife and one of my kids complain about the smell, the other kid doesnāt mind it. The wierd thing is the black Afghan has almost no smell⦠until you touch it or move it, then it wreaks to high heaven. Really musky. My hands were stuck together just handling the stalks and I smelled really hashy, even I thought I stunk. I had to wash my hands in olive oil and bar soap and throw my clothes in the laundry.
The LEVO II has dry, decarb, & infuse settings.
I can sometimes smell it a little while decarbing, but not while on the dry or infuse settings.
But itās a very faint odor. Outside the kitchen, I canāt smell it at all.
Since I need to run the dry cycle also, I think I should get the silicone mat. I dry it for 3 or 4 hours at 125F before decarbing.
Iām making more butter today & havenāt bought a filter yet.
Is there any downside to straining after dispensing? Clogging is all that I can see.
Or I might just dig out a hop strainer from my brewing equipment. The mesh on it might be too fine and have the same clogging problem.
EDIT: Never mind. I just remembered I have two French presses i havenāt used for 3 years. I can cannibalize one of them temporarily.
It worked okay on the dry cycle and dried better than it has before. On āactivateā it said it never reached temperature, ran more than 30 minutes and scorched the bud.
I punted, put it all back in the pod and have it infusing.
And @Tim53 and anyone else using this machine⦠My wife cannot stand the āpotā taste and does not smoke. Can you taste the āpotā taste in the butter or gummies you have made?
Iāve got to get something going to help her with sever back pain that she can ingest.
Thanks all.
Kinda. Its definitely not the same taste youāre getting from smoking though. My wife is sensitive to tastes so we just put butter on toast and add some cinnamon and sugar and you cant tell the difference.
Thereās a slight flavor in baked goods like brownies and none in my Gummies.
Just a small updateā¦
I ran a really good batch of coconut oil over the weekend. I used a full cup of coconut oil and just shy of a full ounce of cannabis. I have been using clippings, leaves with trichomes, and some larfy bud that I donāt mind using. I used the Levo 2 āActivateā cycle for 45 minutes at 240 degrees for the first half, then I added in the coconut oil to the āInfuseā cycle, which I ran for 3 hours at 170. From there, I cleaned out the machine, put the parts in the dishwasher over night, and then did the exact same process the second day for the second half. I took the coconut oil that was already infused and put it back into the second āActivateā cycle on day two, and then just topped off the oil to make sure I had enough.
The outcome was really nice. Not overly strong, but not as weak as my last batches, either. I think Iām going to increase the amount of bud Iām going to use. Like I said, it was on the low side of an ounce⦠probably 0.8 or 0.85 ounce. Next time, Iāll get up to a full ounce and see what happens. So far, i love this machine!!!
@OhioIndoorGrower I typically will run 3+ hours with 2 pods. Drain and refill pods. Put oil back in run 3 more. Coma. Last batch i just ran 6hr and 6hr. Results are great. Gelato and Cream&Cheese bud/trim. First cake JUST came out of oven from that recent batch⦠Yellow sugar free. Will have sugar free choco icing.
Do you notice that significant potency difference between a single infusion and then refusing to a new batch of weed? happy infusing and eating cake
Oh yea. Night and day. My oil is a nice dark color. Flavor is very nutty instead of weedy. Cant tell it is in the cake until you crawl to a chair and pull yourself off the floor.
Hey @Storm !! I completely agree. The last run on this, even after running coconut oil twice through the Levo 2, the taste of the oil contained hardly any āweedā taste at all.
Enjoy the cake! Thatās awesome!
What are the shelf life of your infusions? I use MCT oil. happy infusing
I refrigerate butter and coconut. Olive is shelf stable. In fridge several months. Never found out on olive. Been 3 months max before I am out.
