I used to drop a grand or more a month on weed and I haven’t bought the first bud since my harvests started coming in last October!
I grew a pound and a half from a clone run under a small HLG and saved enough money to buy a MONSTER HLG and a whole new set up TWICE the size of my original space.
I’m set for a long while now man and with a minimal yearly lay out for Jacks and supplements I’m pocketing much cash every week that I would otherwise be spending.
It’s not a guarantee as Graysin said - we’re human, we can destroy ANYTHING, but it definitely lights the path to success.

You will not regret an HLG. They run higher voltage than most. 54vs48. Boards made for them to their specs. If you look at their chips vs the clones they are also a size up. I love mine. Can run 28" in flower turned up. Do not have to lay them on the plants.

@dbrn32 is one of our light gurus. He has a better insight than i do. I went hps to blurple to white to qboard. I just like where i am at. Have 5 550r. They go up and down depending on how i am growimg. You will not be disappointed in HLG. Lifetime light. Boards go…replace…etc. the build is modular.
Blackbird is larger light than necessary to get good results in 3x3. If thought leads to potentially expanding later it would be a great choice. If simply looking for good results in 3x3 a couple of hlg-200’s, 260 kits, hlg-300 would all provide good results.
If i had nothing and was setting up a 3x3 on tight budget, i would probably just grab qb 260 kit and if i really wanted to push hard get another one at later date.
Just wanted to mention that hps grows great grass. Also is very hot in smaller spaces. Can be an issue. That was my primary reason for bailing on them.
I would stay away from HPS as much as possible, HLG is lovely. Every single light minus one is HLG, absolutely lovely them. A blackbird in a 3x3 sounds like something I would do(always a fun time, and going larger isn’t a bad idea)
Hps can grow some excellent smoke. But the led tech has come a long way now. If money is tight you could get a hps to do the job. But if you can swing it, a good quality hlg will do you better. Just dont get a blurple lol…good luck on your decision.
HLG all the way! Once you get the best , you can focus on the rest. 
@SilvaBack203 uses one in a 3x3. It’s a end game light.
