I have a small question I want better clarity on from what I can do, not do.
One of my plants leaves was up against a power cable or something like that n I have a dead spot on one or 2 fingers of a leaf. Is it ok to cut the 1 or 2 fingers back past the dead spot and leave the rest?
I circled the small spots in the pic
Welcome to the community , doesn’t look bad but you can clip the leaf if you like.
Happy growing !
What are you doing for a nutrient program. The cord has a good possibility of doing that I’m thinking not. Have you checked your run off.
Nothing for runoff. Second time I’ve been asked. Guess it’s pretty important. This is technically only my third naked grow so I’m still extremely new. I love doing it though so I’m trying to learn everything I can. I do have another issue with Browning leave tips kind of looks like Nute Bu
rn but some of the tips are turning left some turning right I also have a few little brown spots on some leaves I have some Good pictures but I do not want to lose either one of these plants they both look absolutely amazing. They’re both grown from medical bag seats in my state. White pot is iron horse and black pot is Jesus OG my pheno #3. I had 6 total Jesus bag seeds. Some got fired I assume. Lol.
My first feeling is nutrient burn and possibly a little bit of calmag deficiency or maybe just calcium deficiency since I use an Epsom salt mix and no specific calmag mix
Yes check your run off for ppms and ph. Plant probably needs flushing. Mix ph water only dump it in until you around 20/25% run off chexk ppms/ ph immediately flush again with nutrients that resets the pot. A shot of cal mag wouldnt hurt nothing. As the plant matures the tips will burn that is normal.
The brown tips are due to a little excess nitrogen, but not really enough to worry about.
Yes, runoff pH and runoff PPM are very important to manage for the best results.
Thanks that clarifies some things I’ve been doing weekly “only water” waterings but I can’t remember if I did one this past week. Been good about my journal but last week was hectic n forgot so that tip burn and the slight bending in opposite directions it ok? They ,in the past had calcium deficiency n it had the same small brownish round spot on some leaves.
I appreciate all the knowledge. Thanks everyone
The plant is hungry this is the time that the plant is consuming nutrients to support it’s flowering mode. Burnt tips are normal but the rest of the browning isn’t normal. Yes a heavy flush would be inline. Wouldn’t hurt to use cal mag afterwards if nothing else just to be sure to replenish the pot. Future feedings shouldn’t be no more than 2 days apart with run off everytime.
Thank you! That helps since I’m still figuring out the intricacies of the feedings. I flushed the other day and today I hit them with my Epsom mix. Been a little fearful of mold and mildew the past few days I got humidity levels over 50 but haven’t been working so was able to open my closet door n keep it controlled. Got a dehumidifier in there now and the levels are around 35-40 % with temp around 75-80f. Leaf spotting and discoloration(browning) seems to have stopped. Im chalking it up to calcium since it seems to have stopped after the flush.
Flowers are beginning to plump and maybe 3-5% amber trichomes
I started with 3 Jesus OG and 1 Iron horse. #1 got that soil mold so I just got rid of it but I can definitely notice slight differences between 2 n 3.
I had leaves turning 90 degrees sideways on one plant. I went down the google rabbit whole that came to the conclusion that it is either genetic, wind, or a zinc deficiency.
Best to you!
Thanks for taking the time JaneQP I an a rookie and this being my 3rd grow to term I believe I always picked early and have been maybe paying to much attention to them.
My girls today as of this morning 1 had only like 3 or 4 amber trichomes in the view window but majority milky. And the 2 jog plants are clear to milky without amber trichomes in view window but I’m using a small 60x jewelers loupe so w8ndow is quite small.
I don’t want to pick early but I do want some small CBD content for a strong couch lock effect. Any advice? Was thinking of doing 48 hours dark starting tonight and then Sunday morning harvest. Thoughts?
@98grrenblue Since we have a short growing season here I cut or cover when we have a frost warning. Don’t have much choice at that point.
Indoors I wait until about 80-90% of the pistils are are amber and receding and then I look at the trichomes on the buds.
I also look at the strain reviews online since the family likes some daytime smoke for energy, some for a knockout sleep, and some for pain.
Beside the usual THC and CBD compounds, the terpenes also adds to the mix. Eugenol is a great one for pain.
What you can do with your plant is selective harvesting since lower buds mature slower. Take a sample of the top, middle and lower buds throw each in the microwave for a minute. Smoke each separate bud. If you like it - harvest it ( just know it will be harsh but will mellow out with curing). Find the effect you want.
Sorry I can’t be of much more help since I don’t use MJ and cannot testify to effects of how much amber is too much or not enough. I just grow it and rely on the family/friends for feedback.
Best to you!
Rereading your post I believe you can definitely harvest any day. You can harvest the top and let the lower buds age a bit longer.
I harvest the entire the whole since if there is too much amber up top it will be diluted my the immature buds.
Thanks JaneQP I really appreciate it. I think I’m going for a extended dark tonight n harvest on Sunday. Hopefully I’ll get some updates on photos
We would love to see some updates!
I got looking back at a few of the earlier post and noticed some deficiencies you thought you had.
When you see a deficiency your first thought should be “why is it not getting the nutrient and never should be add more.
More times then not the nutrient is there but is locked out because of toxicity or PH.
I definitely plan on an update the day I cut best guess 3-5 days
