Leaves are crispy and breaking easily

I think this one is 2 weeks (ish?) from being done. The leaf edges are very crispy and breaking. I am a little confused tho cause the other 3 in my tent are not this far along. Tricomes are cloudy with some amber in this one plant. Am I far off? I know it’s hard to tell from pictures. I appreciate any help guys thanks!

It’s a symptom of nitrogen toxicity. The symptoms are dark, waxy leaves with burned tips.

What soil are you using, what nutrient (brand and type) are you using, and are you monitoring runoff pH and PPM?

I’m using compost, flora bloom and bud candy. I don’t check my run off like I should. I have once and it was 6.5, and ppm is nutrient measurements? (Sorry this is my first) my measuring spoon overflows sometimes……

It’s a good number for a soil grow. It needs to be maintained though. Nutrient salts (minerals, rather than table salt) will build up over time and submarine your pH, so it needs to be monitored continuously.

It common for nitrogen toxicity to also affect your runoff pH.

Correct. Runoff PPM (parts per million) is a measure of the level of nutrients in your soil. It is a measure of dissolved solids in the runoff water.

Suggest using a complete product that contains the NPK (nitrogen, potassium, and phosphorous) as well as the micronutrients (copper, boron, iron,…) the plant needs. Jack’s 321 and the Fox Farm Trio are good examples. If using General Hydroponics, then you should be using all 3, consisting of Flora Bloom, Flora Micro, and Flora Gro. General Hydroponics is good as well, but you need to use all 3.

Bud Candy is a supplement product that is unnecessary. It contains sugars and magnesium. Many growers supplement unsulfured molasses and cal/mag, which are a whole lot less expensive and you don’t miss out on calcium.

Wow thanks! I was using floragrow during veg I was under the impression that I wasn’t supposed to use it during flower. Should I stop using bud candy? Also I just picked up a bottle of flawless finish to use when they are ready. Should I use a flush made by GH instead?

Sledgehammer is an example of a good flushing agent.

As far as nutrients go, there are a lot of snake oil cannabis products out there. Stick with a good NPK and micronutrient product and leave it at that.

You have excess nitrogen in you soil at this moment, but in general nitrogen is important throughout the grow to maintain a healthy plant. Nitrogen is very important during the first 4 weeks of flowering when the plant is “stretching.” These 4 weeks are the most rapid growth the plant will experience. Plants frequently double in size during these weeks, and nitrogen is what supports that growth.

Flowers are constructed with calyxes. The plant needs nitrogen to maximize calyx growth.

If I use a flushing agent Flawless Finish is what I use. Flushing additives are supposed to help dissolve salts so they may be washed out at the end of a grow.

As for Bud Candy I also use it. It is simply a source of carbohydrates. Of course AN makes it sounds like nothing else can compare to it. It is a taste enhancer and provides no NPK (just a little Mg). I stop using it two or three weeks before harvesting.
