Learning the basics of PPM

Hey everyone! I’m still pretty new to the nitty grittiness of growing and have been binge watching YouTube videos. One of them is talking about ppm and run off ppm. I know about making sure your ppm is between 5-7 but could someone please explain more about the basics so I don’t butcher my first grow right off the bat?

Thanks everyone. I’m proud to be apart of such a loving helpful community that I am every so passionate about.

Also. My ppm currently after adding my super thrive and bergmans plant food is around 275.
Run off last night was around 580 though.

morning @TrichromeTay ppm tells you how much ‘stuff’ is in your water…stuff can be nutrients and other contaminants … you measure ppm to see if you plant is eating …measuring runoff can be misleading IMHO… when the video said stay between 5-7 I would bet they were referring to PH not PPM… hope this helps you to make a good grow…
