Hi,
Manufacturer says 2.5 to 3 feet with no specific reference to plant stages.
Up to now, I’ve been keeping it around 2 feet in vegetation stage.
Any incite to this issue,
Thanks, stay well and be safe…elliot

Bring it down slowly and keep an eye on the leaves after a few hours if you see them canoe in raise it up to the previous height
18-24 isn’t too bad

Nickys thread a little advanced for what the ask here is.
King led lights put off an incredible amount of heat which could stress his plants out.
Dli is based off of light intensity, duration of time under light and distance from the light the plants are.
Nickys thread is a perfect way to answer this growers questions. Yeah, I could have gave any range of numbers I could have even went to the manufacturer’s website and found the specific answer as given by them, or I could offer them a chance to learn and know for themselves how, why, and how high.
Advanced?
I go off of my plants response . HLG says 24in for flower for my light but my girls don’t like it that close so I moved it up. Just tweak your settings, I’m a newb but from what I’ve read I wanted my light slightly higher making a bigger footprint so to speak and a higher wattage rather than lower and lower wattage. I had it lowered down height wise and my girls responded negatively so I moved it up and they loved life again. Go off of your plants
I used a King Plus 600w and put it at 16 - 18" with both switches on. Blurples are funny. I have a Kind XL600 and it says to have 24 - 30" clearance. I hang it also at 16 -18". Never a heat or light overexposure issue. Come to think of it I hang all of my lights at around that height. HLG 260s and Sonofarm 4000.
This is a good range imo as well. 12 is as close as I would ever go but not ideal as it doesn’t give the light enough space to spread out, so it’s so concentrated.
24" is the max ide ever go.
@Docnraq & @PharmerBob…
Your both right
I don’t think my thread is to complicated, Infact I wrote it so that it would be able to be fully understood by someone who is interested and cares. However providing some basic guidance and a personal suggestion followed by informing them about the thread may be a little more user friendly and immediately satisfying for the OP.
@elliot let us know what you think, learning DLI is in your best interest long term.
However doing as @PharmerBob suggests by just lowering the light daily until you see canoing is a method we used for a long time.
Thank you guys,
Indoor horticulture has been so much easier than in my backyard. Fewer concerns, more control and especially once flowering has started. In the past, I was the timer. Had to make sure I was home at a specific time every day to cover and uncover my girls. Now it’s all electronic. Below is an image of my endeavors last year.
Today I’ll keep the light source around 2 feet until issues may arise.
Docnraq, I will look into the DLI just to educate myself.
Just took some temperature readings.
At 12 inches below the lights, the temperature is 87.8° with an external fan blowing between the lights and plant top.
At 24 inches below the lights, it was 81.5°, so as long as I can, I’ll leave it at 24 inches.
By the way the temperature just above the lights was also only 81.5° so the built-in fans are doing a good job dissipating the heat.
Thanks again…elliot
