Yeah I did 50/50 mixture of FF OF and Coco Loco. When I first did mixture I didn’t realize Coco Loco is essentially the same as soil. But it worked well, so I stuck with it. I had high runoff ppm’s all the way until I started Flower. I know some people have had problems with seedlings in FF OF. But I went from seedlings to harvest with this. Point is I wouldn’t necessarily recommend this mixture but I will use it again.
I may have already commented on these lights. I have 2 260w Rspec series 2 and had great results with them.
On the lighting, is your HLG 100 3k? V2?
Regardless hlg has their own lux to pffd calculator, google it hlg lux to pffd.
Then scroll down should give you lots of info.
But you want to go off DLI so in another window open DLI calculator.
60 DLI is what a plant would get in full sunlight in the summer but 40 DLI is good, and of course you need to watch for light burn and fox tailing.
Each plants genetics and environment will differ so the amount they want differs.
This is where having your VPD (temp humidity ratio) dialed in is so important, because if a plant can breath good it wants good light.
Example of hlg calculator
As always you give great advice. I have a little bit of work to do to get the humidity up a bit. I am at 1.15. Getting temps down will be easy. I have to get RH up 65. I will get started. Thanks.
No problem, it’s hard to keep it perfect or get close sometimes. Do you have a controller yet? Like an inkbird?
I use controllers and still struggle but get close enough, it’s so dry here
No I don’t. Will start researching them. I do have a Bluetooth hydrometer to keep track. Once I but them in the grow bags it should up the humidity some.
Ink bird makes singles, as in just temp or just humidity or it. Makes a duel unit that will do one plug temp one plug humidity
Thanks again Nicky. The DLI really ties it all together. I ordered a Budget LED v3 rspec 250 watt light today. After looking at the calculators It all makes a little more sense. I feel a lot better about what I have to do now. The fun is about to start. I kind of feel like I know what to look for now.
The first 2 years will be a heavy learning experience, and you’ll continue to learn if you wish after that or get set in your ways lkl
I think I am getting it dialed in pretty good. Temps have been between 70 and 68 for the last 24 hours. After I put the first 2 in the 5 gallon grow bags the RH has been 58 and 64. I am putting the last 2 in the bags tonight. I have a fan blowing inside and have turned the exhaust off for now. I will probably put on low tonight also. My new light is on the way so I should be good to go soon.
Get a controller asap for temp, you hook it up to your exhaust fan and then when the temp reaches to high your fan kicks in but then it kicks off when temp is okay so your humidity will stay in the tent as it’s impossible to control it yourself as good as a controller will.
Pictures?
Sounds like you have a little breeze on them that’s important it will make them stronger jo breeze and they will be weak plants with the buds just bending/breaking branches.
Keep us posted!
Tomorrow is my weekly update and will have pics then.
Time for my weekly update. Been a busy week for the little ladies. And possibly my first issue. Over the weekend I did not read my notes properly and made the classic noob mistake and I over watered the plants. This was on Saturday morning. Saturday evening I picked one of the cups up and it felt heavy. And I could see about an inch and a half of standing water in the bottom of the cup. So I cut 5 holes in the bottom and got what I could to drain and I put the exhaust on full blast and blew a fan on them all night. They seemed to dry out ok so Monday night I moved the first 2 to cloth 5 gallon bags and the other 2 on Tuesday night. The plants really did not show signs of shock but the 2 LSD plants have some yellowing on a leaf. The other leafs look ok. So now I have 2 plants under a 235 actual watt Excelvence triple chip LED. And the other 2 under a HLG 100 V2 3000k light. Tomorrow I will replace the HLG with a Budged LED 250 watt Red spec. I will remove the HLG 100. I have one of each strain under each light. So I can compare at the end and see how the lights stack up. I am putting pics here of the yellowing leaves and hope to get some comments on them. Again I am using Kind soil at the bottom and FF Coco Loco on the top. I hope I did not hurt them too bad.
Here are all 4 in the bags. The LSD plants are growing much faster than the Glue Gelato plants. But overall they are all looking good other that the 2 yellowing leaves. I added 1 cup of 6.8 PH water when I transplanted them. Did not want to over water again. I will keep a close eye on them and read my notes better from now on. It has been 10 days since they broke ground. How much water should they be getting now that they are in the 5 gallon bags?
PS I know turn off the burple light when taking pics. (next time) I did not want to take them out of tent for pics due to them being freshly transplanted.
@Bulldognuts @repins12 @Nicky @Amazon66 @Skydiver What do you think of the yellowing here? Should I be worried?
@kcj Here is my Grow Journal. Come check it out. If you look at the very beginning is shows a list of the gear I am using and how to lay it out so others can understand what you have and how to give you the advice you need. As you can see everyone is very helpful here.
I can’t be sure but it looks like in pic that the 2 leaves that are yellowing is laying on dirt. If so, that can cause leaf issues.
I should have put it in there. They have not been in dirt that I have noticed. Maybe during lights out they were. I have them on 20-4.
I had to go back and check. I see that you are in Coco Loco and kind soil. So it’s possible that you are getting some burn. @Skydiver and the others are better at diagnosing leaf issues than myself. Obviously kindsoil is hot. Coco Loco is also very similar to Ocean Forest as far as amendments. But shouldn’t cause burn like that. Maybe on the tips a little.
