For those struggling with the new updates to the forum, @Olaf.ILGM has a little workaround to get some of the old features back.

Forum Changes: Text Box When Replying Should Be Back to normal

I set the default composition to markdown rather than the new rich text. So when you write a reply it should be back to the old way. You can still fiddle around with the newly adopted ‘rich text’ thing by hitting the toggle in the top left of the composition box. Please someone confirm that we’re back to the old way of doing things!
