Just finished my setup! Need help

Hey y’all! First time grower, super stoked because the rest of the stuff I’ve been waiting on has finally arrived!
I had some seeds germinating in my tent with some single LED bulbs until my good light got here, and as soon as I hooked up the new light, I could tell I needed my fan hooked up, because it was sitting steadily at 84°F. It’s going to be an issue keeping the temp down, since it’s winter here and we keep the heat in the house at 72°F. And obviously the light makes it warmer in the tent… :woman_shrugging:
Fan seems to have brought the tent down to 77°-79° but that’s worrying me. Too hot? No seedlings yet, since my seeds were old and probably wont sprout…just waiting for my good seeds to arrive so I can start the real deal. But I figured I’d work out the kinks first.
1: How can I keep the temp down? I cant shut the room off from the rest of the house. Sooo…?
2: Do I need a passive intake fan when I’m running my exhaust fan? If I dont leave a vent open, the tent “vacuums” in and looks like it’s being suctioned in. Im sure that’s not good? But how would I have an intake fan that blocks light for when it needs to be dark??
Help!

77-79 Isn’t to bad for plants already growing . I would keep the bottom vents open for sure . Germinating seeds and young seedlings probably don’t need a lot of light just yet . Can you draw cooler air from another room using flex duct and fan ? Maybe a speed controller on the fan would give you better control .

Thanks for the reply @Seeddog
The fan is on the lowest setting right now, didnt want to test out the higher speeds too late at night and bug the neighbors. Lol.
The room itself isn’t actually hot. Just in the tent. That room is actually the coolest already, I shut the heat vent in there.

It’s hard to regulate sometimes . I think I would put the small fan in front of the bottom vent opening to pull in cooler air . I use a tower fan that runs 24-7 inside the tent . Mine is in the basement of the house which is cooler than I want sometimes . lol I just added lights to bring my temps up . Your cat seems to like the warm air !

Heat rises. Vent at the top to reduce heat. Vent till the sides DON’T SUCK IN !!!
Adjustable speed controls are easy to find and use.

Top vents are open, and the fan already has a built in speed function. On low, currently.

The exhaust fan is much more quiet when hooked up to the carbon filter. I use dryer vent hose at the bottom vent of the tent. A piece about six foot long will cut down on light leaking out. I also tie the dryer vent directly to my fan to help pull air in. It’s normal for the tent to suck in a bit when using the exhaust fan.

@shindig153 thank you! Could you maybe post a picture here for me? Im a visual person :slightly_smiling_face:

@Seeddog I’ll try moving the small fan tonight and see what happens.
Also, yes, my cat was enjoying the heat ans supurrvising the setup process

Here are few picture you asked for.

The next one serves a duel purpose for me. During veg I turn the fan around to blow hot air out the top. That helps me keep the humidity up in the tent. When I start smelling the plants I turn the fan around to pull in and start the carbon filter.

My house was built in 1841 so it tends to be on the cooler side during the winter. The exhaust fan and intake vent into another part of the house. It’s a good source of supplemental heat and pulls cooler air in.
