I am not sure this is the right place for this question or not.
Where we live in California we are not allowed to grow outdoors. We are on the Central Coast of California.
We did one indoor grow, but the electric bill was way too expensive.
We just finished building one of the greenhouses that you can buy on Amazon
I just planted a quick growing autoflower, I figured it should finish up while we still get almost 12 hours a daylight.
The problem is that it is way to hot in the greenhouse even with the roof vents and the door open.
It’s 78* outside and 100* in the greenhouse.
I am thinking about solar fans or some other kinds of fans.
Looking for advice from someone who has figured out how to cool a greenhouse down.
If she can get here through her phone ![]()

Shade cloth helps
Shade cloth can help but you must have space between it and the exterior of the greenhouse or you’ll get even more heat without the airflow between. Make sure you don’t use anything over 30-35% sun block or you won’t have enough light.
Intake and exhaust fans but they need to be pretty big not sure solar fans will be enough.
I’m in NorCal Foothills area
LOL I can but I don’t like thumb typing. Too much. I found a wi does laptop that I bought a year ago that lets me on the forums but hubby has been using it for computer tutorials but he’s done I think.
What kind of light did you use? I have 1000watts going at times and have never noticed a difference in the electric bill.
1000 watt LED. Our PGE was $600 a month. I do think my husband got carried away with the number of lights
passive airflow can make a huge difference in small greenhouses. I had the same heat spikes until i added two cheap auto-opening vent arms and a small solar fan
