Johnny 6 goes organic

Around week 9 or 10 the leaves should be dying off as the plant cannibalizes nutes from the leaves. I don’t worry too much about losing leaves end of life, I like losing all that chlorophyll as it makes for smoother smoke. Fade happens weird sometimes. Yours has a nice fade.

I don’t want my plants to be real green when I harvest as it needs to cure longer so it isn’t harsh. Plants really don’t need too much after week 8 because all the plants energy will be transfered to senescence and ripening. Unless you are running a pure sativa landrace strain that needs a long flower time. The plant will take what she needs from the herself to finish up.

I stop feed around week 7 unless the plant shows signs she’s not close like white hairs signaling new growth. Then I let her do what she wants. I also lower light intensity to mimic fall.

Yeah they go through a water uptake period during the stretch. I think a common issue is when folks flip to flower, they often tend to think the plant no longer need Nitrogen, or way less nitrogen. My research into this seems to point toward a continued use of 4-4-4 or an equivalent ratio food with the addition of flowering supplements. Then as flowering gets further along, a gradual reduction of 4-4-4 and continued use of flowering supplements. This is predominantly for no till or organic indoor, but we can see that the reason is that when the plant is short on nitrogen, it will scavenge it from leaves beginning at the bottom of the plant. Non mobile nutrients are not accessible in this way, and so deficiencies become more visible at the top and middle of the plant because the plant cannot access them by scavenging. Great catch! And nice haul! Good looking buds. Id like to say though, in all likelihood you would have gotten a decent haul even had the leaves fallen off. It’s kinda a normal process anyway. My outdoor plants shed a lot of leaves by the end of their flowering period despite having all the food they need. Its primarily driven by photo period and temperature, especially soil temp!

On the right is an apple tree, on the left is not an apple tree lol

Welp, lost most of it to bud rot. Ill be lucky to get 1/2 oz usable.

Quick update: I did lose all of the colas to bud rot, and the buds touching the main colas… These flowers are insanely dense, like… vacuum packed dispo dense, right off the plant. I managed to salvage all the lower buds. So the total useable was 70 grams, with 115 grams of bud rot. tbh this is an insane yield, I thought I would get 2-3 ounces total with a healthy plant. I will get some pics of the good bud soon…

Curious if the bud rot developed during the dry cure phase or if they were infected while alive? Seems kike you would have noticed bud rot if it was in all the colas. Do you have a dehumidifier? Sorry for your loss.

I think it happened a couple weeks before harvest. we had a power outage and I didnt get the tent open before humidity exceeded 60% for almost an hour.

Final update to this thread, unless I can get some better bud pics. I have another grow started I’ll document in a new thread..did you know you can take clones in flower? Its not worth it timewise, but you can…

Here are some bud pics, I couldnt get my camera to cooperate so this is the best I could get. The pink coloring is cool, it started to come in once I had temps drop to ~60f overnight a couple nights.

These buds are from the lower plant where you would expect to find “larfy” buds. No larf here, all solid nugs.

Sorry for the lack of updates/responses I bought Satisfactory and now all I think about is conveyer belts.

Also does anyone know why jpeg files dont upload properly but when I upload a png the website converts it to jpeg and it works fine?
