I suppose while I’m at it, I’ll update y’all on what’s happening inside the tent since I have made a few minor changes.

I’m still growing in my 2.5’x2.5’x5’ tent but I have added a home made high cfm kit that I made out of extension rods from one of the dollar stores (they’re duct taped to the tent poles), moved my 2 clip fans to the right wall of the tent and clipped them to the extension rods and Velcro strapped them to the tent poles for extra security, both my HLG QB260 rspec (main light) and my Mars Hydro ts1000 are in the tent (ts1000 will be turned on in flower), my exhaust has been moved outside the tent and will be vented out the nearby window instead of into the room (should help with temps and increase available cO2 inside the tent. I have also made the full switch to Fishsh!t this run as well as adding in Recharge weekly.

Currently I have 4 Orange Poison seeds (orange juice bud x Durban poison) in 100% coco hydrated with full strength Jacks 321 recipe, Armor Si (silica), Fishsh!t, and Extreme Mykos. 3 seeds are craked with tails and 1 didn’t open. Now let’s see where this journey takes us all.

Hey all. Just a quick update. We now have 4 1” tall seedlings up and slowly growing. Unfortunately my Nute Tools combo pH/tds meter crapped out with a bad electrode so I’m waiting for the replacement part. I’ve been giving them just enough feed to keep them alive while I wait.

So, as a learning lesson. If you shut down your indoor grow, follow the manufacturer recommendations for storage of all your electronic equipment and your nutes. I didn’t and I stored my pH pen dry and in a freezing shed for 4 months with the batteries installed.

Alrighty! Let’s kick this update off. I’m down to 2 plants now. 1 was a scraggly little thing that never grew past the cotyledons, 1 was just a super slow grower that was also severely mutated with thin wimpy leaves. The remaining 2 are about on par with each other in size, node development and root development.

This morning I transplanted both up to 1 gallons and increased my lights a little to hit an average of 500ppfd average after raising the height to canopy up to 18” again. I’ll give them a few days to get used to the bigger pots then I have to snip off the lowest growth so it’s easier to feed them.

I’d love to know the sex of these plants now but I should only have a few short weeks to wait. In the meantime I will just keep on keepin on and focus on maintaining a near perfect environment and paying super close attention to how they’re developing.

Today is transplant day for these girls! Moving up to 3 gallon pots. I’m seeing some early signs of hermaphroditism on one plant. My hands aren’t steady enough today to attempt a picture of the little nubs that are growing from the lower nodes that will soon have balls on them. For now I’ll keep both plants just to see how they develop. Just may be a very mild issue but if I see it start to show lots of herm traits then it’s a goner and I’ll have a larger single plant scrog.

A few days ago.

Ok. Went in for a little pre light flip defoliation and I was inspecting the plant that I thought went hermaphrodite on me appears to be a strange female. What I thought were balls showing up have turned into calyx heads with a short stem attaching them to the branch node. Here’s to pretty visible ones. Has anyone ever seen anything like this?

People are strange, why can’t a plant be? As long as you don’t see any ball sacks, you should be good to go :+1:t4:

That’s exactly the attitude I’m taking with it lol. How’s things out your way going man!?

I can see where you could have thought that was a male pollen sac.

@Covertgrower, @repins12 hey guys. I know you’re busy but also know that when you get a minute you’ll be able to help steer me in the right direction.

I’m getting everything ready to start my outdoor grow for this year and need a little advice on pot size. Planning on having 6 plants in grow bags as they’re much cheaper than building more raised beds in my yard. I’m thinking 45 gallon fabric pots should be enough for fairly decent sized plants based off last year’s grow but I’m starting these ones much earlier inside. Planning on starting them this weekend and hopefully have them transplanted outside the weekend of May 14-15th. Should I go with a larger size bag?

I’ve been using anywhere from 20-35 gallon but, it was still illegal here. I may put a few in bigger pots, now that I can legally, have 4 just to see if it makes a difference. I know that the 35 gallons, were an SOB to move around. I know that they say bigger pot, bigger plant. I have yet to try. I wish that I could be more help :v:t4:

I’m no outside grower, but anything above the 35 mark I would think would be adequate. Personally I would prefer just sticking them in the ground.

That’s actually a lot of help. I’ve watched a lot of outdoor grow videos on YouTube and they’re a lot of 100+ gallon bags or raised beds but those guys are on the west coast and growing absolute monsters.

Last year’s outdoor grow was my first ever and my 3 lemon haze plants were about 7’ tall and 4’ round when topped at the 8th node. My other plant was about 7’x7’. All of them were in a 8’x12’ raised bed with 4 green sweet peppers and 4 hot cherry pepper plants. Each pot plants rootball went about 12” deep and we’re about 3’ round but not densely packed like an indoor potted plant. Thus leading my thought process of well that’s about the same size as the 45 gallon bags so I should be able to get by and still have decently large plants. I don’t plan on moving them as they will have full sun from basically 8:30am till 7pm during the majority of the grow season.

I would like to just grow them in the natural local dirt but my yard is horribly rocky fill that hardly grows anything decently.

I understand, when planting in the ground we all have different challenges. If you’re able to remove a root ball sized hole, and fill with good soil that would work also.

Unfortunately my wife is taking over the raised bed with the good soil that I built and used last summer. I may just buy some cheap relatively inert garden soil, some composted manure more pearlite and mix up my own again. Have it tested then run jacks through it and see how I do. There’s better sunlight now since I cut down 4 trees.

On a cool note, we bought 2 apple, 2 peach, 2 plum, 1 pear tree, 2 more blueberry bushes and 2 elderberry bushes for our yard. Those should all be here around Mother’s Day so all my back yard plants will be going in the ground around the same time. Next will come the chickens!

News today in the tent. I spread the girls out under the net and decided that they are taking up enough of the net to hopefully finish filling it out during the stretch. No signs of anything bad now that we’ve determined those funky calyxs on the right plant are actually calyxs.
