Jack’s v. Grow Dots in Coco

@Graysin and @alienofasoul So, just trying to get a feel for whether to use a medium or heavy application. Yeah, I’m still concerned about frying my plant, haha. Someone (not me) posted this question and had this answer:

Question:How much should I use it per 5 gall bag?
Answer:The dosage varies from 1-3 teaspoons (5-15 grams) per gallon of soil. It kind of depends on how hard you’re pushing your plants. How much light, co2, strain, etc. I would go with 50-75 grams depending on environment and strain. Thanks

That doesn’t help me much, lol. There isn’t more guidance on how environment might require more or less Dots. I imagine that stronger lights means more Dots. Any words of wisdom?

I’m going to do a ILGM White Widow Auto in a light/moderate amended soil. Graysin, you’d likely recommend B to the walls and go heavy, LOL … right?

Well, I still have a couple of weeks to figure it out, and I realize I’m probably overthinking it.

You got it. I was going to say for 5 gallons of soil that sounds a lot like 9/10ths of a cup :joy:

Huh? Heavy feed is 3 tablespoons per gal of soil, so 3x5 is 15 tablespoons. Almost a cup!

Oh, never mind.

Yes, I know the heavy application rate in tablespoons per gallon of soil, it’s just confusing that they give the application options without explaining better the whys of when to do each (light, med, heavy).

I suspect strongly that it’s based on what it’s going into. If I were planting straight into fresh FFOF, I would probably cut back to a medium Application. Meanwhile in coco, or soil mixed with lots of perlite, or any other medium with a light nutrient load, I’d be going heavy every time. I can only imagine using the “light” feed if I was planning to use it as a back-up or supplemental feed to my primary nutrient line. Like if I knew I was going to feed my plants full-strength Jack’s every day, I might add a light dose of Dots just to help keep deficiencies at bay. Perhaps also in the case of living soil or other heavily amended, nutrient rich soils.

Thanks, that makes sense. As far as environment, well, mine isn’t too harsh. LOL. And in about three weeks, you guys will have more experience with the Dots, too.

Most certainly. I have Grow Dots, a Zkittlez, and a Blue Dream auto all in some Dots. All planted in the dots at different life stages just out of sheer curiosity. They did all get heavy applications though, as they’re all in coco.

The reboot is under-way. @alienofasoul @Borderryan22 @MeEasy @The_Cannabowlist @BobbyDigital @alexankh @JaneQP @Flitme @Low @GreenSnek and any others who were following along before disaster struck.

Meet No Dots and Grow Dots v2. They’re fem autoflowers from Mephisto Genetics- Samsquanch OG.

Grow Dots was selected for the Dots because her cotyledons crisped up very strangely, almost like the membrane from the seed was left on and strangled them. Since there’s signs of life inside the cots I’m not worried, but I thought if she was a No Dots, she might die before she got a chance to establish.

She has 1/2 tablespoon of Dots with her in the nursery bag. I will be amending the rest of her coco on transplant day with 1/2 tbsp less as a result (a total of 8.5 tbsp when it’s time)

If u look super good is there a skin left on the leafs??? Seems like the shell skin stuck on and keeping it all bunches up. Use a tooth pick and super gently rub the bottoms of the leafs and see if the skin shows just a rub with toothpick like ur tickling the leaf to see if the skin shows. If so I’ll know it’s there quick to pull it lol. Happen to me a few times took shell completely off one and the skin stayed on it grew like 2 inches tall and had a round ball on top til wife played with it an seen it had a skin over it still. Was weird the skin didn’t break free

Day 45 (I think?)
Grow Dots is a beast. I actually didn’t recognize her. I have a small Blue Dream auto that I actually thought was Grow Dots because she’s the size I was expecting.

Meanwhile in v2 land - we’re on Day 10.

Grow Dots v2 is looking mighty slow to grow

No Dots v2 is doing just fine

They’re a cute pair.

V2 Dots is the seedling that had the weird coty leaves?

Yep. She seems alright for having essentially no cots at all - one of them flaked off when I looked at it wrong and the other one may as well be nonexistent. I’m going to give her silica and a little fish sh!t tomorrow morning to see if she can’t be coaxed back into action. Of course No Dots will get some too to keep things even.

I imagine that not having those leaves puts her at a disadvantage since she’s only had about 1/2 the solar panels? Hopefully very soon she’ll git goin’.

That’s the hope. I saw how Grow Dots was gaining unfairly against No Dots last round - I didn’t want to give No Dots v2 an unnecessary handicap so when I saw the damaged cotyledons I figured Grow Dots v2 was better suited for it. If she survives, it’ll put them on a semi-level playing field in about three weeks.
