Jack Herer AF, our 2nd AF grow

I’m back, it’s been a whirlwind of harvest, billiards tournament in Vegas, drying, curing and storage. 1st grow was gorilla glue #4 and harvest was a good quality with small quantities but satisfying.
Made a few improvements to the grow room by adding “reflectix” to the walls to make better use of my full spectrum 2000W koscheal LED. Room is 3x2x6, light is hung 40” over 2 - 5 gal fabric pots. 100% germination on 2 Jack Herer AF seeds from ILGM in 3 days, placed in peat pods for a week+/- before tap root came out near the bottom of the peat pod. Transplanted to the fabric pots. The soil in the pots was put together same as our last grow and is intended to be simply water till harvest.
Bottom third of pot is 1 1/2# “Natures Living Soil mixed with Miracle Grow Performance Organics Container Mix. Upper 2/3 is all MG Performance Organics. Peat pods set in soil such that seedling stretch from the germination fluorescent covered a small portion of the main stem. Watered sparingly and covered with clear domes made from 1 gal water jugs. RH was running 80%+. Seedlings started looking like they were being over watered, the domes were removed for a couple days and withheld water till soil felt much drier then the domes put back on with some holes cut into the domes for air and humidity exchange. Watering 1 cup natural spring water every other dayseems to be working better. Goal is to keep seedlings in 65-80% RH with temps being 68-80 F. Water PH is 6.6, and soil PH 5.7.
So, we’re 19 days from the seeds hitting the water soak for germination, here are the pics for this journal report…all advice, comments, questions, and feedback is welcomed and appreciated.

We had our 1st measured snow yesterday. I’ve never grown in the winter before so I’m excited about saying “l’m harvesting” around Ground Hog Day.

Im really looking forward to this grow! I know we have learned alot and continue to learn with this forum. Im very thankful to have so much experience.
I remember the day you just threw bag seed in a flower pot and it either grew or died!! I would have never believed you order the seeds of choice for whatever you want to feel from the weed, on the internet and they come in the mail.
Things sure have changed! Thank you all again
Happy Growing @PCM will keep the updates going

I forgot to mention that the best growing seedling just started sprouting it’s fourth node. May be time to remove the dome in another week and adjust lighting height. RH in the room is very low, roughly 40%. I have a small warm mist room humidifier. Haven’t used it yet but I’m hoping it’s output of 1 gal into the room air will do the trick. FYI the closet grow room is inside my 9x10x8 office area. I’ll have more on this in a week or so.

@beardless, @BudzMS
The attached pics are our JH plants (2) at 28 days from dry seed. Permanently removing the domes today. Grow space humidity is still low in the 30-40% RH range @ 72-80 degrees F. Lowered LED to 24” +/- above plant tops. Added warm mist humidifier to the grow space to increase overall grow room humidity. I will closely monitor for a couple days the conditions. Outside the house temps running teens-low 50s. 2 cups water every other day right now but will need to watch that close due to removing the domes. So now the pics, things look pretty good for now, nodes are closely spaced on the main stem and we’re in full vegetative production:

Jacks look good. LST Top?

I’ve thought about that but I’m not confident about doing that. I’d like to get a couple more harvests to build up our stash for home before trying some of the LST, SCOG or finning technics.

Yeah It took a couple of grows. Although even the first one I bent a couple branches and tied them to the side of pot. The second grow I worked myself up to bending the main stem over and tying it to the rim of the pot. Once you do a little and get comfortable with how the plant responds, it opens things up. All in good time.
This is the one jack herer auto I grew.

All looking pretty good. Noticed some leaf tips turning brown, “light burn” I suspect. Raised lighting to 26” above canopy from 20”. Still watering 3C ea every other day and will increase that to 4C every other day at next water since vegetative growth has increased significantly. Will check soil and water ph before watering again. RH is still running relatively low @ 38-44% overall, 50-58% near dirt level and maintaining temps @ 72-80 degrees F. Observed some slight cupping on the leaves which may also indicate a need for more water. Lighting cycle is 18-6. Showing some signs flowering may be starting. I’ll be watching that very closely. Another update in a week.

Wed., 12/15 update (7 weeks from seed). 1st week into flower. Stretching has begun for “Southpaw” and “Northwind” is squat but foliage dense and flowering too. No other significant changes noted. Doing a small amount of LST to Southpaw by bending under the larger fan leaves. I’m sure this is encouraging some of the stretch. Still 4C H20 ea every other day. No added nutes, (thanks Nature’s Living Soil). Today’s pics below, advice and comments are welcomed.

12/22, wk 8 from seed, wk 2 in flower. Southpaw is 28” tall and flowering stretch has slowed with buds starting to form. Northwind is 20”, squat and bushy with buds starting to form too. Started surface applying, 1 tbsp ea +/- Natures Living Soil Girl Flower Power at every other watering. Hopefully it will help to make the buds fat and dense. Grow room is smelling good and carbon filter is helping to keep the oder contained. Progress pics below
