Jack Herer 2nd grow

2/5, Here we go again. Soaking 3 seeds to start this grow. Felt good to grow and harvest during the dead of winter so let’s do it again. Grow room cleaned, reorganized, light hung, timer set, and excitement started. Expect updates weekly on Wednesdays. No plans to change much except maybe trying some LST, and CO2 if the LST goes good. As always, all comments and advice are welcomed.

I grew the auto version. It took to LST very well. JH can grow tall so LST and some HST is certainly recommended.

2/9, 2’ x 3’ closet grow area set up same as last time, prepared (3) 5 gal fabric pots, Nature’s Living Soil bottom 1/3 mixed with potting soil per instructions, Miracle Grow Performance Organics potting soil mix top 2/3, Koscheal 2000W full spectrum LED grow light set up with 18/6 timer.

3 ILGM Jack Herer seeds soaked in distilled water starting on 2/5, transferred to very moist paper towel under small dome on 2/6.
On 2/7 tap root sprouts (100% germination) set into peat pods, covered with dome and set directly under fluorescent light 77F @ 84%RH.

2/9, Tap root and top sprout :seedling: observed poking out on 2 pods. Transplanted all pods to the fabric pots, again covered with ventilated humidity domes @ 74F and 82%RH.

Will update again in a week. As usual, all comments, questions and advice are welcomed.

I forgot to mention the seeds were all autoflower. 4/30 will be 84 days from seed. Let’s see if this grow times out similar to the last one.

2/16, 11 days from seed.
Watering every other day 2 cups Ice Mountain Natural Spring Water each plant. All sprouted 5 days after transplanting to final grow pot. 3rd set of true leaves have sprouted.Everything looks good to me. See pics below. Comments, advice, and questions are welcomed.

I should have mentioned that the temps and RH are from under clear domes with vent holes cut in the top for air circulation. When the 5th set of leaves sprout :seedling: the domes will come off. I’m going to try adding CO2 passively into the grow space from a small bucket commercially bought for this purpose.

@PCM they look healthy

I’m a retired old guy too :slightly_smiling_face:

I love it…2 years for me and have really enjoyed being able to devote time to my grows now… :cowboy_hat_face:

I’m going into my 2nd year. It’s really gratifying to grow, and harvest in the middle of winter. I would’ve never thought it could be done outside of a lab or greenhouse setting.

since I retired I quit dirt and do a home brew DWC system that has produced some very nice crops for me. I am amazed at what I thought I knew about this plant was really outdated and based on old hippie lore… I have learned to appreciate it more, than just a ‘buzz’

I’ve got a new question for my 2nd Jack Herer grow (3rd grow overall). Previous pics, updates, and journal data is above.
I’m 17 days from seed and the girls look ready to leave their 80F and 85% RH domes. The grow space RH has been running very dry, 28-30%. I’ve added a warm mist humidifier and want to start adding CO2 also to the space. I have hydrometers in each of the pots as well as above the fans within the light. The “ProCO2” pot is hung just above the light. Light is 21” +/- above the plants and the CO2 is 36” +/- above.

My question is should I run a fan in addition to all this?
I’m afraid I will lose the effects of the CO2 and or the extra humidity I’m adding to the room. The grow space is 2’ x 3’ x 7’-8”.

Moving air is good for the plants. It strengthens them and increases respiration. I wouldn’t worry about the Co2. I think air movement will provide all the natural Co2 your plants will need.

Thanks, I value your advice. I think I’ll start running a fan blowing up into the ceiling of the closet and put both the light and fan on a 18/6 schedule.

@PCM I agree with @beardless about the CO2 and air movement…unless you are really dialing in all your variables (expert level grower with all the bells and whistles) adding CO2 will not help you. I have never used any extra CO2 in my grows and really don’t see a reason to. My plants grow well and produce what I call a very pleasing smoking experience. Just breathing on them every day will give them the CO2 they desire and need.
Get the app Photone for you phone to adjust your lights…I can’t say enough about how this little tool will help you set the right amount of light intensity at the canopy.
