I’m not 100% confident this is pistols. Let me first say new growth can look so much like a pistol it could even fool the pros. (Just wanted to throw that out)
If it were in autoflower, the most common time frame to start seeing pistols it’s 3 to 4 weeks.
On an extremely ultra rare occasion I’m talking 1 and 10,000 (and yes I had one) it can take months to start flowering. I literally had one take 15 weeks in bed before I saw the first pistol.
I can’t say this is your case but if you’re standing firm that it’s in autoflower yes it can happen. (I’m living proof)
I’m assuming the plant in question is the plant in the 2 gallon pot. Am I correct on this?
Another reason for the slow growth…Temperature. It needs to be 80+/- F.
They are living creatures and have minds of their own. I’d guess though from your story that your brother might’ve gotten a seed mixed in with his batch? No telling? Either way you do have a choice to make. Since it sounds like you got a plethora of beans, I’d start a few more and if you get some sprouts, let this one go. Seems like its already spent some time on the streets so it may or may not produce. If you were short on seeds, it’d be more crucial but since you have plenty, I’d put my efforts into something with more potential. This one has definitely increased its chance of less potential. Good luck my friend. As @ACMilan stated. Be careful with the screenshots.
@SausageMahoney…yes ma’am. Indeed my luck someone would call when I snapped the picture. I need to read and fully understanding the regs here. Here’s a close up of the Wedding Cake. I think @Lostgirl is right about mixing up the new growth from the pistols. And the temps definitely need raising but won’t the VPD readings go above 1.2 if the temps
raised to 80° ???
After the above pics can you tell if it’s pistols?? And below is my other plant after 17 days since planting.
Whoops…below is the close up I see pistols. Yes? No???
By the way. I only use that specific meter for soil moisture levels. I read a lot of reviews that weren’t very good for that meter so I use it for the simplest task for its ability
@DanB…even for the 17 day old autoflower Moonberry Kushrocks??
The kushrocks and this one are about the same stage it shouldn’t hurt anything.
@DanB…I can duplicate what the readings are for the outside environment by adjusting rh. At the age of the Moonberry Kushrocks 17 days will it be alright also? I’ve got light intensity at 79%, the vivosun recipe calls for 80% in veg. but the VPD kept raising and dialed in with the one percent change. I’m still wondering which stage the Wedding Cake is in. And whether or not there are pistols or new growth in the following pictures
Thanks for everything my friend.
Lol it’s
no worries. I get it all the time. Its my email address from many moons ago. Definitely pistils. That girl has been through sooo much, shes probably got some stress related issues? Could even go back to intersex even after the pistils appearance.
A significant watch-out for growers is that plants can become intersex if subjected to intense stress during either the vegetative or flowering stages. This can happen regardless of the starting sex of a plant; so if you successfully identify female plants, that doesn’t mean you can throw caution to the wind. COPIED AND PASTED.
Just keep a good eye on her if you decide to keep her.
@SausageMahoney…sir I am truly sorry and duly corrected…lol!!!
They both will be ok in warmer controlled environment infact you may see more growth, just keep your 18/6 cycle.
@SausageMahoney. Your advice is very interesting and that’s the thing that captivates me. I can definitely sex the plant and will watch as well as post pictures looking for help. Remove I’m new and basically stupid but I refuse to give up. I was cgiven an idea that the plant lay in dormancy for the first 5 weeks because I was out of town and she wasn’t treated right. Probably like a house plant. Anyway I’ve been giving her a half a** chance with the proper everything and now I think it’s showing pistols and I can’t bear to kill her after her resiliency.
Love is the best medicine. Talk kindly to her and play some Vivaldi or Max Richter “Seasons” for her. Definitely love success stories.
Those are sex pistols. You could have them for a while but I’m betting that it’s gonna do the weird all in one transition-flower-stretch phase. Gonna be a carrot on a stick. Those nodes are so close that I’d Jack my light up and turn it down to 50%. Get some space going to give the buds some room to form. Then dial up the intensity for flower.
That was a great band also,
Sex Pistols. ![]()
I hear that reply quite often
@Budbrother…thanks my friend. It’s currently at 12" above both canopies exactly. The vivosun actually calls for 18"+. Which way should I go? I’m getting a difuser next week because I was under the impression that the par/ppfd readings were very important. At which height should I raise the light?? The most beneficial??
PIL was nice too. Still got Pistols on many playlists.
