Is this a good purchase?

Hey i seen your plants in a different post, so thats your buds from the 200w you linked?

Hey sorry to bother u again if u dont mind whats your opinion here -

I was going to go for the Ion S33 @ Ā£280, thats 240watt

Then i saw the Ion Evo4 @ Ā£390, thats 300 watt.

Both say they are lit with Samsung Lm301h diodes.

Im willing to get either, would you say the extra 60 watts is worth jump in price?

Im going to try and hit the 400w mark with my veg lighting setup added, its not ideal but should bring me up.

Iā€™m going to go ahead and say thats not a good way to grow. Recommend a 3x3 TENT, not a closet, growing is messy, and get either a 3x3 quantum board or bar light with 400W min

Oh its far from ideal lol. But i have done the closet before with some success, nothing to brag about, but no issues either for the ghetto contraption it was. And i kind of like the tinkering required lol.

Right now its one purchase at a time, ive got a grow cycle complete now i want lights, then a tent and so forth, hard to justify emptying the barrow in one go lol

I would say that you are better off growing one plant well with good light than several poorly. I know quality lights are expensive, but thems the brakes of indoor growing there really is no way around it. If your budget wonā€™t allow for a good 400w you could go with one of those and grow one good plant with it. Then buy another to fill in your 2x4 space when you can. Thatā€™s is how I started indoor and its a cheaper right now more expensive in the long run type option. Now that I have expanded itā€™s still nice to have a few extra 300w 2x2ā€™s for side projects and seedlings

You technically canā€™t determine a plants yield from the lighting used. Great genetics will produce solid yields and crappy genetics wonā€™t. With that said a good efficient light is needed to produce solid flowers but thereā€™s several variables that are needed. Nutrients, lighting, environmental conditions and solid genetics :love_you_gesture:

OG couldnā€™t be more right there. You canā€™t grow good kind with poor lights, but you can certainly grow poor kind with good lights. You can can calculate a rough Idea of potential yield based on lighting, but all your other inputs will determine how much of that light can actually be used for growth. Forgot to mention yes the evo4 is worth the extra money

I see you going through all the budget lights. I suggest bite the bullet and get a good 1 off the bat. Lights are the !!!MAIN!!! Component in your grow. HLG cant be beat. Some other makers are with them. If the light is cheap in costā€¦its a cheap light. Just the way it is. Go cheap on fan, tent etc. Go big on light. 1 time buy. 5-8 year service. Just my thoughts.

I definitely appreciate that lights are the most important aspect, i really didnt think the evo04 would be considered a budget light for one or two plants though, really? At 400 euros?

Id definitely buy it, maybe even consider a 400 watt but i just dont see any thay have samsung diodes and will aslo fit in my space.

If the evo04 or even the 240watt can grow me one solid plant then id be happy, and id just plan my grows accordingly.

I do see that ratio of retun to investment is substantial but space is pretty limited

From what i have gathered the ac infinity evo lights are decent. Ill tag in a guy who is sponsored by lighting companies. He has good insight on more budget friendly lighting. His word is good. His grows show it. Hey @MeEasy what do you think man.

I would say the evo 4 is a good light, the s33 is a more econo light with good diodes. I would love a more educated opinion. I can look at maps, reviews and specs all day long, but I donā€™t have personal experience with many different brands.

I have only been growing for five or six years. Like so many other folks, I spent a ton of money on poor quality lights before I joined this forum and got my facts straight. I now have over $1000 USD in low end lights sitting in the storeroom. Not a single one of them in use after my first grow.

I would be $1K richer if I had bitten the bullet to start.

Appreciate you both :shamrock:

While i do appreciate what your saying im doing my very best to not have that problem lol. To me at a glance the evo04 seems to check all boxes for a small grow space to make at least one substantial plant, i mean surely 400 euro isnt considered budget?

I would guess done well that light will get you 200g-300g from a good plant. I would stick with one under that light. maybe even more if all goes well. Just a guess based on my experience with mars FC-E3000

You may not get that your first grow, but thatā€™s my average from my 300w econo light with happy plants. I am looking to replace those econo lights though.
