AFIK, it isn’t possible to attach a file to a post. Suppose I have something I want to share. Some examples are a spreadsheet with a soil or nutrient recipe where you enter the desired quantity in a cell and it computes the rest. I also have a 3d printer file (.stl) for some water filter accessories I use. I’ve been thinking of a calendar printer where I enter the date I drop the seeds in water and it marks dates for other actions (I use autoflower, so I should be able to get close on this).
I could put something like this on github or Google docs or something like that and put a link in my post, but links tend to rot over time. Is there a best practice for this?
“Links that show tools or supplies that can help member and are not available on Amazon or other approved vendor will be considered on a case by case basis. The ownership of ILGM fully supports helping all growers.”
Above posts are accurate. In short, we’re not setup for a vast majority of file sharing for a number of reasons. But the biggest reason is to ensure the anonymity of our members. So if you can do something that is considered valuable for the members without having to share personally identifiable information and it’s not in violation of any other community guidelines, we would most likely allow it.
That’s probably not a crystal clear response to your question but it’s what we have to work with.
Different kind of files needs to be approved for upload in the Discourse software. A lot of the most common and safe ones are already approved.
For whatever reasons, be it size, safety, privacy or what not, any files not on the list can’t be uploaded. That keeps us relatively safe and easier to moderate for our crack team of mods.
