Is sulphur water ok to use on my plants
What do you mean by sulphur water?
We are on a very deep well but the water has a very strong sulphur smell . We don’t use it for drinking purposes but we use it for everything else and I have used it in the past on my tomato plants. They seemed to do fine but, didn’t know how the higher sulphur content effected ph etc.
This is due to hydrogen sulfide.
Sulfur is a necessary nutrient, but too much could be a problem. A sulfur toxicity can be identified as slowed growth, smaller plants than you otherwise might get, and tip burning in extreme cases.
I would get a water filter. A lot of growers here use RO systems which give you absolutely pure water with virtually everything filtered out except H2O.
Try watering with it first and see how the plants respond. They may have no negative effects at all.
Check the PH if it’s in range It should be fine. Or you might need to adjust it a little.
Ph 7.79 with a freshly calibrated Vivosun ph indicator.
What is the optimal range I should be looking for
6.2 to 6.8 Would be fine . 6.5 PH being the sweet spot.
Thank you!
