In order to save time, is it okay to mix all of your liquid nutrients together but in proportion and make kind of a composite?
I have nutrients to mix each time and I am using a syringe which takes a long time each gallon I hand mix. Sometimes I don’t have that much time.
Do the nutrients interact with each other over time in a detrimental way… or are they stable enough to hold and use if I want to use them over a couple of month period?
I have Bergman’s plant food in 4 packets w/ no instruction on how to mix etc., i.e. stages 1- seedling booster 10g, 2-growtime fertilizer 25g, 3- flower time fertilizer 200g & plant booster 10g.
What is "(see QR for details)?
Thanks
p.s. I do graphics if you are in the need
The problem is if you mix them all together some will bind together and make an insoluble salt. Then all the “free” nutrients you just paid for are locked up like rocks. Only microbes or chemical processes can release them again. It’s important to not nute soup it.
How you know is you end up with a colorful cloud or silt that settles to the bottom after mixing. Those nutes are no longer plant available. If there is no silt dust that settles you are good.
Like @CooterJuice said always dilute concentrated nutrients into water first before mixing. Even compatible nutrients for a mix can bind if you mix the different nutrients in concentrate.
That’s what I like using Jack’s. I can mix a 5 gallon bucket, that lasts me 3 days using coco. I pH it to 5.8 and by day 3, it’s at 6.0 and still good to go.
Yes and yes. You need a scale capable of measuring to the 10th of a gram (~$30 on Amazon) and you need to do it in order, but it’s pretty damn simple. Part A and the epsom go in first until completely dissolved (you can see it, 10 minutes or so). Stir. Add Part B and dissolve (2 minutes). Stir. PH to taste. Simple.
@DrWoo got you. It’s also very easy to change ratios if your plants should show and deficiency or toxicity. I have a nitrogen sensitive auto I’m chopping soon. All I did was back off part B and up part A. Part B has more nitrogen than A. It’s also very forgiving. Doesn’t have salt buildup like FF and is easy to ‘flush’ should it come to that, but it almost never does.
Biggest issue I have is making sure the blinds in the bathroom are closed. Otherwise the neighbors see me measuring white powders out of quart ziplocks. And that could lead to awkward convos around the lawn mower.
U can always make ur nutrients up in a ten ltr bucket or a 20ltr bucket and use that over the next few days but u will have to check ur ph each time it may jump up or it may go down
I just have my jack 25 lb bags in a storage tote with a lid on a bucket . The lid then acts as a table as i measure the nutes , instead of getting up i rotate the lid then rotate the tote 180° easy peasy . I’ve gotten very efficient from having to measure 56 doses a week
Yes powder or dry nute. Part a is a bit more to get broke up and dissolved. I use hot tap water to break it down. Put each part in a cup with a quarter cup of hot tap water hot as it gets once broke down like 2 mins or so then pour that into the mixing bucket.
