Is anyone using T5 Fluorecent bulbs or fixtures

That’s what I figured. Seemed like in your post that I could do something now, with what I have, to increase bud density.
My first inside grow and I’ll see how this light creates the buds. I can then upgrade. Thanks. I’ve been reading many posts here and you are very informative.

You can overdrive Racehorse drivers like the ones used in Quantum T5’s but you also need to run SHO lamps which are like $25.00 each…

It is just not practical to run fluorescent for bloom…

What’s new??

I’m using the 10,000K finisher bulbs. They are new, apparently. They have a different spectrum than previous T5.
I guess I could grab a different bulb to help with flowering. I was told at the shop these lights would do it all. Lessons learned.
Thanks for the tips.

You are welcome. It is an interesting spectrum… They are targeting peaks within a nanometer range.

Blue in the 400’s for finish, yeah I get it. Red/far red for sure. This three target spectrum is intriguing…

Let’s hope it works, lol. I have some pics of my ladies on another thread. Thanks again.

There is probably nothing wrong with spectral distribution of your light. What I meant above is that they are still fluorescent bulbs, so efficacy is pretty weak. Therefore it takes more watts to reach suggested light intensity. I didn’t intend to conclude you could get more from what you had.

Thanks for the tip. I’m learning a lot here. Been a gardener my whole life, this is my first like this, so while I know some stuff and have read a lot, I can see me making some changes in my lighting.

The 10000k are UV lights. They sold me 4 in my kit. I am, for this, going to need some new bulbs.

Maybe get LED T5 bulbs. In the meantime. 3 in 6400k and one in 3000k seems to be a consensus. Now I just need to understand how T5 LED lights work? Are they hot? How close?
Jeez! Thanks, just wanted to let ya know what’s happening.

Typical fluorescent use is cold whites in veg and warm white in flower. You can certainly mix them though. You can also usually run them pretty close as they are relatively weak and cool in comparison to other types of grow lights.

Thanks… very little information on the 10000k FL lamps I have. I was told they were for reptiles. I don’t think the ones I have are those, they are horticulture 10000k lights. Who knows.
So many diverse answers I got on these bulbs I’m totally confused. I was told they are dangerous? To me? To the plants? IDK?
I know what I need to do. Bigger tent and better lights, lol.

Looks like they dip a little into uv-a and have increased orange to help mimic sunrise and sunset in autumn. The uv-a is supposed to help create better terps and trigger a defensive response (trichomes) in the plant. I’m running a supplemental uv-ab light for this grow but haven’t noticed much of a difference yet.

I stopped running UV but will run a 420nm violet for two weeks prior to harvest. I never saw a difference running 390nm UV …

Red/Far red (Emerson Effect) is where I focus during bloom

Looks good!!! I’ve heard so many negative info on T5’s, that just looks good.
