Hello. Just thought I’d share some interesting information I’ve learned so far on my first grow. I have a microscope and have been looking at fan leaves here and there and in different ways. I noticed that the trichomes on the fan leaves appear to go through the same transition from clear to cloudy to amber as buds do during flowering. What’s kinda weird is fan leaves essentially have zero cannabinoids, which brings reason to believe the color change isn’t associated with THC or CBN but rather something else. The plant has only been on a veg cycle on an 18/6 light cycle and is about 5 weeks old. It does produce a fragrance that is really only noticeable when the tent is opened, but disappears quickly as the tent is just letting the trapped fragrance escape. I’ve read terpenes are also produced in trichomes. Since the plant is producing fragrance, plus considering fan leaves aren’t known to have any cannabinoids aside from trace amounts, this suggests the color transition from clear to cloudy to amber is associated with terpenes and not cannabinoids. Who knows, maybe I made a discovery in cannabis:)

Were always told to check trichs on the bracts as opposed to the sugar leaves as they will go amber sooner and cause one to harvest early. Ive only trusted that and never verified it.
