Input on topping an auto flower

I know topping an auto is a no-no, but…

I accidentally fumbled my plants when they were about 2-3 weeks old. One of the tops got broken off of 1 of them (essentially topping it).
It wound up budding faster, and producing really good buds. Since it was “topped”, it took less LST to get the main top down… I think perhaps the shock of one topping was overall less stressful than the normal training?
Anyway…
I grow in organic soil, with 4-4-4 dry amendments. Once they start to bud, I amend with 4-9-5…
I grow with an LED that I found that work’s perfectly. Low heat, so managing my temps is a breeze…

I’ve topped all of my autos except for 1. No issues. As long as the plant is healthy and it’s done at the right time it’s all good

I top all my autos, mostly for height control with no problems. I did have a few problems (stunted/small) the first time I did it, but once I knew how the problems went away…

That’s with the older autos like lowryder, many if not the majority of autos can be topped and in the case of strains like ILGM White Widow they should be topped in my opinion as they still grow 2 and a half to 4 feet topped.

That’s outdated debunked science that should be noted on all forums so the don’t top autos bull doesn’t keep spreading.

It’s all about the strain and the size. We have XXL autos now that certainly can and should be topped to increase yield.

Topping autos is a very time specific thing you usually do around day 21. Single cola type strains like Chronic of course shouldn’t be topped but others that are more Sativa dominate can be topped.

Nice looking plant bud. Topping is not necessarily a no no if thing are done ar certain times with autos it dont much affect their growth. They can be finicky as hell but not totally untrainable. @Nicky @Not2SureYet @GreenSnek all grow autos myself included and i do top them fimming is more recommended for autos as it is less stress than a top.

Heck yeah very nice, love the even canopy. I fim my autos one time. Slows down the upward growth Let’s the side branches catch up and makes a nice even canopy.

I have not grown in soil. From what I have seen though. If you are to top. It should be done a little earlier. Most go for 5 nodes and then top or fim. In coco the veg time is longer. So I top at the end of week 4. I average about 6 weeks of veg though. I have to watch the advise I give. I can get away with almost any thing using coco that you can with a photo… I have topped some 5 times and more. Truth is. I really saw no benefit my self. If I didn’t top. Most would end up pretty tall.
