In the second week of flowering I broke a branch. It seems flimsy but is outgrowing the other buds? Anyone know the mechanism behind that?

Im a new grower. I’ve been heavily lurking for a while but am always learning from you guys and gals. I’m growing Dos so Dos and Golden Goat. Anyways, I broke a branch… fat fingered it. Well it was essentially bent like I was super cropping. Well it stayed flimsy. But, It’s beating other buds by like 20 or 30 percent. Does anyone understand the science behind that.
I assumed it would drop off (the bud) to better conserve energy. But, it’s doing the exact opposite. Ideas?

Extreme stress causes the plant to go into emergency survival mode and boosts growth that’s why some peopl 1-2weeks before harvest drive a wooden stake or pencil through the main stalk, problem is if you misjudge it or the plant takes the stress badly it could get a nanner and seed all your girls

Welcome.

Can you post a picture or the whole plant?

Welcome to the community @WeirdkidSid

What you did accidentally is something some of us do on purpose to promote better growth and train the plants the way we prefer. It’s called supercropping.

Man it’s unreal. My buds are just passed prebuds… maybe a week and a half 2 weeks in. You guys are right. I went back and checked a few branches that I had nicked… they seem sturdier and more advanced than their branch siblings. Thank you for your input. Still blows my mind that an injured plant heals so well . Feel free to impart your knowledge. I’m at that start sponge level… trying to soak up all available knowledge!

Thank you so much for the warm welcome. Im voraciously consuming as much knowledge about cannabis cultivation as possible! Thank you for your service btw! I joined the AF when I was 19… picked up some PTSD. I was struggling mentally. A close friend and a veteran turned me on to a few clones. I of course with my nerves as they are…well I stunted them. But they’re beautiful and just getting skunky. Anyways, Feel free to impart your mental fruits. Thank you much for the warm welcome!

It would be awesome of you to take a snap shot of the results. I broke three branches on my largest Lady. They were still loosely attached but I used plant ties to lash the branches back into place and they all recovered. Still kinda weak after a few days but are clearly mending.

Good morning, apologies I fell asleep with my phone on my lap. These aren’t the best pics but my sativa plant (golden goat) is the one worth the bum arm. Also a couple pics of my two dwarves. The one with the zip tie is the injured branch. I stupidly used a non pliable patch ie ziptie. Should have used tape. Any and all comments are appreciated. Thank you!

It looks terrible when you see the injured exposed area but the bud is larger… by no means large just bigger than the others. It’s sativa so airy more single calax like buds just starting. Or maybe just starting to form the whole bud. Im a somewhat new cannabis grower but I’ll definitely keep posting pics. In a month im growing 6 plants after I harvest my mini test grow. Im going to test all 6. I’ll do HST by breaking limbs for a flat canopy. Im going to Mainline a couple and a few I’d like to try different environmental factors.
That way I can accrue useful info and working knowledge to pamper the ladies. I’ll keep one for a control. But definitely hit me up with that useful info! Love to learn about gardening !

You are in the right place. Be sure to keep very good track of your experiments, I keep a clip board for each plant, I write down everything from soil moisture in the AM, to what day I topped or began LST, any droops, cuts, or funny colors get recorded. Its nice to be able to go back and tell exactly what day I started seeing pistols, or even how many times have I feed with this PK booster. Once you choose a technique or methodology, stick to it, for the entire grow, wait to change it up until you complete the grow, otherwise you won’t really know what the results were. Happy farming!

Thanks Doc! This little grow has done wonders for my anxiety. So I’ll be sticking around here soaking up the good vibes and wisdom. I actually just bought a notebook for work put in and daily stats and info. One quick question… on my ladies…my Dos si dos… the leaves… small ones… are inundating my mini buds. Is this normal for 2 weeks into flowering? Should I be trimming those tiny leaves so the buds get air and light… or is this as it should be. The top two photos should show what I mean.

I can’t really make out what’s going on. Could you post a single photo of the entire plant (preferably under normal white light)?

If you get a chance, check out Kyle Kushmans videos on YouTube.
There’s a good one on super-cropping.

Im sorry about the late reply. I was restricted from answering because I’m so new here. The damaged limb succumbed to my learning curve. Thank you for your interest including any future advice!!
