I’m in the Deep South US where humidity and temps are brutal.
My tent is in a shed. My house is only 800 sf and “no” room for a tent. Please don’t tell me to find room, not possible and stay married.
I have a dehumidifier in my tent “but” I question how it can help? The exhaust fan pulls in fresh air constantly from the floor vents. I’d imagine the air is completely replaced easily every minute. Can’t see how a dehumidifier has time to make a difference with the air exchanged continuously? It would be like trying to remove humidity in my home with all the windows open (impossible). Any suggestions?
Cooling the space is also challenging. It’s the first of April and temps in my tent is mid 70s. Summer will be a challenge.
So far my girl is growing great. Hopefully the excess temp and humidity that is coming will not be too bad.

13% is quite strong. Dilute it quite a bit. Most peroxide products are 3%.
A preventative spray once or twice a week is probably a good idea if in a very humid environment. Dilute peroxide will not hurt the plant in any way. Peroxide is extremely effective at controlling molds.
Can you condition the air in the shed? That turns it into a ‘lung room’ which the tent would draw it’s air from. A cheap window A/C is likely all you need.
You can also reverse your day/night so lights are off during the heat of the day.
Peroxide will control mold but will make leaves scruffy looking with dried papery edges. Just be aware that you will see that. I would also plan on doing a bud wash in peroxide at harvest.
You might want to try some 100%, or close to that, sativas. Here in southside Virginia we get some terrible bud rot and mildew growing outdoors. Indicas especially. Try ILGM’s Durban Poison, it does really good up here in 80+% RH outside.
Looking good , You may need to choose the time of the year that best fits growing conditions. Also autos might be a good choice start early spring and finish before it gets too hot.
Good luck
@kellydans
Thanks and I agree. I started my current GG4 auto early. But, got several delays trying to get a seed to actually germinate. I think my current grow will finish before the crazy humid and hot gets here in June.
However, I’d like to start another immediately after. Just enjoy the hobby.
Just a note here, dehumidifiers put some heat in the air. Not to get too technical I hope, the way that the manufacturers stack the condenser coil on the evaporator coil. This will cancels out the heat or cool of each other. But the dehumidifier’s compressor heat, (heat of compression), will be pushed into the conditioned space.
If you want to grow year round. You should consider insulating the shed, and use a window unit or a mini split. The AC will remove all the heat, and the insulation will prevent the outside heat from invading so quickly. Both will pay for themselves in the long run.
@HotAndHumid, also if you use a mini split. You can use the condensate water that it will produce for your water source. You probably wouldn’t have to carry water to the shed. I wouldn’t be surprised if it produced 3-5 gallons a day. A win-win get rid of heat and humidity plus a water supply.
Yes , As growers we all have to make a few different adjustments depending on area and climate. As a basement grower summer grow works great for me. Winner grow works fine but need a little heat supplement.
Happy growing my friend !
