Hi growmies, has anyone used vinegar to lower pH? Does it work?
Yes it does. About 1 tsp per gallon will bring it down around .5
I used white vinegar for ph down before I switched to Jacks, now only need occasional ph up. Jacks in my water comes out at 5.7-5.8.
I still have it on my mix table. Still use it for nostalgic reasons.
My medium pH is high at the moment? Can I flush till pH is within range? Would that be possible with a one time flush or the flush would take a couple of days?
It just takes a lot of water. If you’re using a soil probe, they’re not very accurate. The best check would be the pH of water in and out.
Can you give us more info on your grow?
As much of this as possible and we can get a better feel for whats going on.
Yes vinegar works, but in my experience vinegar doesn’t stabilize as well as using phosphoric acid. Vinegar should be used temporarily in my opinion.
I bought a few of those in the beginning too🤣 inexpensive and do everything…badly
Landed on this which can actually be inserted into soil. Great for stubborn problems, or learning about pH interactions in your unique environment.
