ILGM Critical Mass Photoperiod

@KikiGee Yes you are correct, on feed day adding nutes will drive pH Down at that point you would need to pH back up to 6.5. On water day only with your well water running in upper 7 pH you would need to PH down before you use it. Good luck

Is the higher pH because I am not growing in soiless medium but Happy Frog? Which thinking now, the Happy Frog may be why they are showing a bit of nute burn. I had thought with the hydroponic that the range was 5.86 to 6.2.
It would certainly make my life easier not having to drop it so much.

FINALLY found a water filter. Had to suffer the city today (I can’t wait for some good heavy duty indica when we get home. It is a near two hour drive there.) It will be interesting to see how they do now.

It is shoved in the back of the seat so only could get the Spanish side but a Culligan three stage filter.

They are looking really strong! New growth everywhere. That well water sounds like the only annoyance. But getting your pH right seems the only real challenge.

I have only grown in soil - Canna Terra, but that is a ā€˜hot’ soil as well. If I keep my pH at about 6.3 - 6.5 everything works really well. The soil has almost enough nutes in it to cover the first 3-4 weeks of veg.
The filter looks good - hopefully that makes your levels settle down a bit. :upside_down_face: :face_with_monocle: :+1:

I will work the pH back up. And it may well have drifted upwards after I pHed this morning due to the little pump I have in the bottom keeping the water stirred up. I didn’t have near the ph drift with distilled that I do now.

We drink this well water, untreated. Who knows what all is in it. It will better to drink and I don’t have to replace those Brita filters on the pitcher every two to three weeks.

@Weedlover1 did you pluck the larger fan leaves off your CM as you went? I have been conservatively plucking any that are facing inward to the plant’s core and if they are covering the bud sites. I hope I am doing the right thing there.

The Banana Hammock. Oh that poor poor plant. It is taking an abuse from me. First the main stem broke and apparently has done well, but then above it, attempting some LST it bent again in supercrop style. It will be a miracle to get much off it. Also, interesting to see how a plant does after some inadvertent abuse.

And about this time around I start seed shopping for next grow. Have some ILGM Purple Haze that I want to do and always like to throw in a special plant for giggles and grins like I did the BH.

I had the same problems with Happy Frog, and I think its a hotter soil.Your doing all the right things from what I can tell.I plucked a lot of leaves off the middle to get better air flow and continued defoliation sparingly all the way through.

This is today. The Banana Hammock is recovering nicely. The leaves actually look better today. My pH is around 6 in reservoir and 6.2 in the run off. I just added Emerald Harvest Root Wizard, not a plant food. I am going to most likely drain the reservoir today and fill with the filtered water when the filter is installed. I always just hold my breath and hope I don’t mess up when taking leaves off. This time I am taking off those little branches down low that end up with the little fluffy buds. For one they are a pain to harvest and trim, and two, they are just almost not worth grinding up as you get so little. So figured I would shunt growth towards the upper bud sites.

Oh, the big flies on the yellow fly strip are just printed flies. I guess the manufacturer thought me or the flies needed a bit of direction. Since I used the Ocean on BH that had been sitting in the garage opened, I am sure the gnats came in with that. Or the HF. I sprayed Bush Doctor in there today. But not really concerned. It is a WAY better problem than the epic plague of cutworm moths we had last year.

And for giggles and grins, my psilocybin project Round 2 is doing well.

The only comfort I get right now is that I read somewhere that even an experienced grower will have a grow every now and then that just goes tits up.

  1. I have suspicioned this for a bit but now fairly certain Banana Hammock is a male. I need to do a very thorough pour over and most likely will scupper it today or next few days. Upshot is that I can keep Critical Mass in veg a bit longer to let it recover from whatever hell I have put it through. And this lets Lemon Haze auto get a bit more time prior to 12/12

  2. Lemon Haze. Well friends, I think the results speak for themselves on one poor soul. The other hardy LH is soldiering one. That is not cal/mag def but forgot that the autos do NOT like Bush Doctor Force of Nature for fungus gnats. (Yes, some of us have to take two field trips to learn a lesson.)

  3. Critical Mass. was this under or over nitrogen? They have been on well water for over a week, then I just used Emerald Harvest Grow and Bloom, not the Micro or Green Goddess as they have higher nitrogen, for last five days or so, and then I thought I saw cal/mag def last night and add cal/mag and got nutrient lock this morning. However, I had literally thought this over in my dreams all night and planned to totally change res this morning and start over.

Game changer now is filtered well water instead of distilled. Now for the big question:

Do I got back with General Hydroponics Flora Series, of which I have a whole new set bought prior to end of last grow. I had great success with this and our weed has never been anything but a smooth nice smoke. However, I was using distilled water.

Do I stick with Emerald Harvest and the filtered water?

I would do what worked best for you in the past. It’s frustrating using some of these nutrient lines and I have gone to organic soul growing just because it’s more forgiving and easier.I tried Fox Farms and had p.h. and lockout problems.I was a dirt farmer in real life,so maybe it’s just me.

Thank you! I agree and that is my thought. Only difference now is filtered well water but that works in my favor as I won’t battle too low PPM issues that distilled brings. Not sure that I even want to add CaliMagic right off?

I grew up on a dry land cotton farm/cattle outfit. Oh do I know the importance of rain!

Overall I think your plants look great ! Yeah I always say stick to what you know, if you change nutes there’s a learning curve, if you change soil there is a learning curve, if you change lights there’s also a learning curve. I do believe this for every action there is a reaction.

@kellydans @Weedlover1 Thanks guys!

Should I play it safe with the GH Micro (5-0-1) and use only half until I am sure on the nitrogen? I used half of CaliMagic as I do think there was tiny hint of cal/mag def showing on one CM.

I SO appreciate this forum!

Edited: I gave my DIL and son the old tent and grow lights, etc. they will be here today. I will give her the Emerald Harvest to work with. I gave her some ILGM seeds. :star_struck:

I like to play it safe sometimes less nutes is better. I think cal mag Regular dose would be fine. You can always add more nutes when plants need it. Follow up by checking your PPM and pH runoff .Thanks for the tag good luck

I’m just curious what was you growing for the market.

This may be tacky but I think I will let the kids take Banana Hammock and the poorly Lemon Haze. It will be a good exercise for them in weed farming. Can’t hurt a thing and who knows, they may get a great crop yet and I am wrong on the BH

We grow alfalfa and grain, also a lot of potatoes in our area.

I agree with @kellydans on the nutes.
