ILGM Critical Mass Photoperiod

By this morning all four are up! The dogs LOVE those kids. They are walking treat factories. The dogs think it is heaven with them around. Constant entertainment.

One CM is stunted and not going anywhere. I am not sure why. The ends of the first leaves are crispy looking. The coffee sticks are for to hold the ziplock domes up.

I have this list of seeds I own. Most are bagseed. Due to the straggler I think I may just germinate one of them as a bonus plant, and not germinate another CM. I am comparing compatibility.

Purple Haze fem (ILGM)
Jilly Bean bagseed
Grape Ape bagseed
Banana Hammock bagseed
Maui bagseed
Mandarin Cookies bagseed
Glueberry bagseed
Durban Poison bagseed
Gelato bagseed
Wedding Cake fem (ILGM)
Lemon Haze auto (HGC) just finished growing two of these and getting rave reviews
Blueberry X Big Bud auto (HGC) just finished this one and have more than plenty.

Banana Hammock was a super nice strain so may do that one. It was a one time find at a dispensary and never saw it again. It will be a turkey shoot on the bagseeds but fun anyways. We aren’t going to be weed poor, that is for sure.

I have been lacking on this journal, mainly because for the life of me, I could not find my post!

So, I absolutely, positively was going to ONLY grow four plants. Then added a Banana Hammock seed. They are doing great. Well, it occurred to me that the Lemon Haze auto I just finished I am low on, everyone loved it, and I gave too much away. I got the brilliant idea of sticking two of those in the tent now that I have more room, and in a couple of months can harvest it. I could then put another two autos in and get three crops in one, by the time the CM and BH finish the second autos may be ready, depending on what I chose, or only need a few more weeks. This way I utilize the energy cost to grow. I have two LH sprouted yesterday and in the tent. The light in the tent is at about 28% so I am going to experiment letting the LH come up in the tent rather than a T5 light. If it works great, if not, no big deal.

I ordered a Mars Hydro TS1000 to supplement the TS3000 light.
This time around, I figured out how to put the little duct tube fan that brings outside air in, at the bottom duct port of the tent, set the little humidifier outside the tent at that spot and can better direct humidity. Only running those two during the day right now.

Today is the day to get the AutoPot turned on. And I got all my Emerald Harvest nutes in yesterday: Micro, Grow, Bloom, Cal-Mag, Sturdy Stalk, King Kola, Honey Chrome, Emerald Goddess, and Root Wizard. Still studying on usage, but will probably add nothing more than some CaL Mag, Root Wizard for first few days and very weak solution at that.

Not just a whole lot going on. Learned more on FIM and the 5 nodes thing. I think Grow #1 I just lopped off a piece early on with no idea on how many nodes. Read to wait 30 days, 5 nodes, then FIM. So paying attention this time.

How plans change!
All are looking really healthy there. I totally get it on the efficient use of light. It is certainly easier to adjust on the fly with seeds.
I have been slack on my journal as well. Really need to post an update. It looks like I will end up with the 4 Pineapple Express Auto and 1 Lemon Skunk Auto. They were a real disappointment. One of four seeds germinated - and that one looks a bit gimpy…
I was thinking about timing my next run to flow with this one. Seems to be a benefit of autos that I hadn’t considered. SO I am thinking that mine have been in about 2 weeks, that I will start a couple of photoperiods off in 2 or 3 weeks. Just have to decide which tasty little morsels will get the green light. I am thinking 2 strains that I can clone from.
You have encouraged me to update mine. Will have to get a couple of pics when I give them a drink. :upside_down_face:
Hoping you n yours had a great Christmas and a safe New Year! :sunglasses:

I was sort of dissing an indoor auto grow thinking it would only be better to get in two harvests outside. Then I had this flash of brilliance, also having a great deal of seeds to experiment with. I know yield won’t be as good, but good grief, I ended up with 460 grams last grow, we are not going to be weed poor with anything so yield is not as big of a deal as when I started out. Hubby said I need to order a rosin press for storage consideration of the product. Which I used wax, shatter, etc for my topicals.

Happy New Years to everyone! I will be ‘tied’ up this evening. :sunglasses:

That is a great result!
The press is a really good idea. I haven’t tried doing extracts… yet. I do have some apparently excellent resin producing strains. So I will definitely be exploring at some point. :upside_down_face:
Have a great and ‘spanktacular’ New Year’. It sounds like yours is bound to be a good one…

FIMed the girls today. The Banana Hammock bagseed is amazing. The stalk on this thing is thick. It is one of three things being a bagseed: from a hermie, from another BH male that got the female, or an entirely dif strain fertilized female. Either way, super nice plant. Grape God X Mandarin Sunset cross, and read it was rare. But hey, I got some at the dispensary in Trinidad, CO, and that is where the bagseed came from. About two years ago!

Critical Mass is healthy looks great.

Lemon Haze autos plopped in final container last night. This is sort of a gamble. One got dropped out of the tiny seedling pot and I scooped it up, replanted and can’t tell which one it is. No stress. Was sure it was a gonner.

It is iffy on whether or not I will do another round of autos midway when the LH is done. It will all depend on the space and light available when the LH are removed. I know by that point the light will be a 12/12 but I grew the last autos at a 12/12, having no clue really, and it doesn’t seem to have had any negative effects. Great yield and is certainly better than any top shelf I bought.

I think as a beginner I see people, and I was one for sure, that the first grow is all about trying to get yield and TCH. That should be the last thing to worry about, just learn to get some to harvest. And while doing that, you will most likely get a good haul or good smoke. But if you find you are obsessed with growing, you will grow more to hone that skill. I am on grow three, lesson learned on the first two grows are huge, and I am still learning on where I made my mistakes on SCROG and training the plants. First grow I FIMed I just went and whacked the tops at some point, and would have to search my written grow journal at the age, but bet it was before the 30 days and I was clueless about what a node was. Heck, in the first grow I plucked off some calyxes with no clue. So it gets better. I have a whole litany of experiments I want to do on future grows. All that to say, take it easy and enjoy growing. I could see if it was the ONLY grow ever planned to do it might be stressful, but these plants are amazing survivors.

I will say this, if you want a real challenge try growing the psilocybin cubensis mushrooms. Zero room for error. I think growing cannabis has prepared me for that venture.

Your girls are looking impressive!
The BH will certainly be an interesting one - sounds delicious!
I got my Lemon Skunk Auto in the tent with the 4 Pineapple Express. 3 of 4 look excellent, the other one not so much. She isn’t using the same amount of water as the others - so I’ll keep an eye on her.
I will get back to Photos after these - I enjoy the cloning and training too much

I totally agree with learning from past wins and losses. Even though this is only my 2nd run - I am still able to treat these girls much more to their liking I think. I feel like I under watered last time, so watching how they respond. :upside_down_face:

What I am learning is that many times my mistake is another person’s method. I did look back on my journal and I somehow managed to FIM the first grow at the right time. I am going to work a bit better on my SCROG and training this time.

We kind of wanted to run to Trinidad today and just shop the dispensaries for fun. (Anything to get out of this podunk place for a bit, I am going stir crazy.) This time wouldn’t need to load up like we normally did prior to growing our own. It was stressful bringing 5-6 ounces home and across state lines. It is a four hour drive there, and 200 miles of it are on lonely ranch roads with little traffic. The state is doing random DUI and DWI stops for last couple of months and my cousin is a state trooper and they like that ranch road to scout out the hunting herds. (My cousin is aware of our usage as I give his mom stuff, however, he can be an ass and I could just see him stopping us for fun and giving us hell, and at our age, I really do not see the humor in him anymore. ) Too risky. Plus the virus. Good news is: this is why I grow! Still miss the epic one day Turn & Burns though.

That is very true. It seems best to either follow one persons methods or forge your own course.

Border crossings would certainly an an edge to the drive! It seems everywhere in the world they are finding new reasons to pull people over without any real goal.
Some things just aren’t as funny as they were 20 years ago…

I’m in suburbia - where it is not exactly allowed… which has its own challenges. I would much rather be out of the city - with privacy and no nosy neighbours… :upside_down_face: :sunglasses:

Looking great I just harvested one of my Critical Mass and its very good smoke, nice high and good for my insomnia. 5 oz.off of this first plant using the SCROG technique, not too bad.I am sure I could double that if I let them grow freely but I put 6 plants in a 4×8.Great strain.

That is fantastic! The plant yoyos are due anytime. I think you told me about them. I am seed shopping the CBD higher strains now. Wish I could find Green Crack CBD seeds but they are sold out everywhere. My son really likes that strain. He is due for some major surgeries and one imminent due to shrapnel threatening to slice an artery. Geesh the things the VA ignored for the past 8 years is astonishing. His pain level is is unbelievable and all I can do to help is grow something good for him.

@Budz420 our little city is 37,000 and that is way too big (we are the edge of it). For years we lived where we had to drive 180 miles one way for groceries. Now it is 110 miles for a real city and real shopping. And that seems too close. We love our privacy (my resident nudist mows the grass with his marijuana cowboy hat, sandals, and a joint hanging out his mouth :sunglasses:). I can grow outside but the weather here is very fickle. We get 70+ mph winds in the spring and every time I tried a clone (which was what i had at the time) outside, it would be stripped in days by the wind.

If you look between Kitty’s ears you can see a plucky little clone, planted against a hot cinder block fence, that actually made it. I don’t think it got more than 18" and made about an 1/8th of spider mite, dusty, tiny buds. My first grow but I don’t count it. And by golly, we smoked it! It was a purple strain of some sort. I didn’t even have the sense to research anything. Just picked it up in Trini.

And this hat! Epic find and everyone wants to steal it.

Thanks and I hope your son’s surgery is successful and helps his pain, and thank him for me for his service.Love your husband’s hat and your dog is darling. Good luck with your grow. I was in the same boat, driving 350 miles one way to Oregon for smoke. Now I go to the basement. LOL

Thank you! It has been hard to see him regret his career in the USMC but we understand why. That hat is an old discontinued Peter Grimm.

That dog! She is something else. She and her buddy, the cow dog/pitt bull mix super mutt both came from high kill shelter here. We say the bigger dog, Juneau the BEST dog ever, is the best breeding south of the tracks feed lot heritage could ever bring. Some rottie, labrador, border collie too. Her DNA called her a Super Mutt. Kitty is half chihuaha and half mini schnauzer and all schnauzer in personality and attitude. Juneau chose her as a buddy (she rejected any other dog. They are super tight friends.) However, Kitty is always trying “top from the bottom” as my husband says. Juneau tolerates this to a point. I got a good photo of Kitty worn out trying to be top dog and had it put on a Zippo. It makes us laugh every single time we light a J. Husband says is a good representation of 37 years with me.

I have never had such a tiny dynamo and we are crazy about her. Our two mutts are the best dogs ever. After a lifetime of working cow dogs, we are loving these girls.

I forgot to ask you, does the CM have a strong smell? I am already detecting a fairly good marijuana smell this early in the game. It is either CM or the mysterious BH.

Its not overwhelming but its definitely got a smell.

Here’s a picture of a Critical Mass I just harvested and hand trimmed. This came from the tent I accidentally re-vegged its ugly but potent and my gloves are covered in sticky oil just from this one bud.
