I need some advice on keeping plants short

I have the most luck with 14 gauge electric fence wire bent in a 9" long U shaped staple. It has enough weight to hold branches down and eventually the roots will also add extra holding power.

@beardless Thank you. I will have to give them another try. :wink:

Looking very nice… if they are popping up it’s time to start training with coated wire.
You’re looking better every grow Lady :grin:

Thanks everybody for the advice.
I managed to get some more space with my lights and could possibly get another 4 inches if i remove the rathet lowering system Unfortunatly in the process my light fell on my plant and smashed it pretty bad !!The main stem didnt break just bent over so i added more dirt and used garden wire to prop it up .Its not folding over seems like its still reaching for the light so hopefully its possible to still salvage a grow out of it fingers crossed :crossed_fingers:

I get its not alot of space but its all i have to work with right now . I live in a stationary recreational vehicle. A grow tent is definatly not an option unless i set it up in an outbuilding but then i wont be able to regulate the temperature like i can inside . And being that there is a younger kid around i got to be discreet as possible ive already got questioned as to why the light coming from the cabinet was purple yesterday and blue today.

Bend the botton of the wire to a check mark. Leave in the whole grow becuase that check will pull out roots. If you need to move use a new wire. You only need a small check half inch at most.

Omg, same! Ima share two links to DIY SCROG nets.

Affordable 2x4 wooden DIY. I don’t think u need L-brackets:

Entertaining 5x5 PVC DIY:

Watch both and choose for yourself. PVC connectors make ya reconsider that wood would last u a full grow cycle.

Everyone says LST, where ya bend the main stem over to make more growth and colas up the sides, but indoor grows in a 2x4 are often gonna be a bit spindly. My plan is a 2”x2” net on legs above pot plus 8” and later a hanging 4x4 that I can raise or lower in the next cycle. I’ll defoliate cause they love to be lollipoped, but I don’t think ima stress my main stems with bending. I plan to just do the SCROG nets

I have had luck by using a two gallon pot and training branches to stay lower than the handles.

Now it is in the flowering strech

I saw this on a different ILGM posted thread.
QUOTE “An intense LED with a heavy blue shade will result in a short plant with tight nodes”.
Question?? of hand does anybody have a documented source supporting the above statement.
Before I buy BLUE LED light supplementing. Just asking, i want short plants with long tight buds.

Thanks im using 2 gallon pots also but my grow space is fairly small so i think i should have went with smaller pots then i could have a few growing at the same time im a medical marijuana holder and im going broke buying from the dispensary so i figured what better way to solve the problem ive grown outdoors before in pots this is my first indoor grow hopefully the start of a long journey of grows

I understand. That space with that plant is an insulated box with a 2x2x 3 feet 7 inch to ceiling. I have less that 34 inches from floor to light. The short training i did worked wonderful in that space…well so far.

Good luck.

You’ll have better luck manipulating the plant with LST than you will trying to keep it down with a light. Use topping/fimming/super cropping alongside LST and you can keep your plants pretty short

@Bluedream87

Want advice on how to keep plants short??? LOL, just follow me.

I have a tendency for growing short bushy plants.

I 1) keep the tent lights on the high side at each stage and 2) LST them quite a bit… Way up until preflower.

The one on the right was heavily LST and topped. The one on the left had neither but is still less than 20"

I manage with a fimm/top and good lights. I keep all of mine short unless a 20gal medical plant. These have 3 stretching…males probably…and all the girls getting fat. The stretchers get a good look next week then axe if n

Hell yeah bro! Good to have you on board!! Your girls are looking awesome!! Keep up the good work :blush:. I tried some sour diesel last night and it was a good buzz but it gave me a headache all night. Probably wasn’t flushed. Anyway, like i said good to have you aboard. Ill have to come over soon! Maybe one day when u don’t have any plans i can come by & hangout for a little while.:sun_with_face: :potted_plant: :heart:

@Newt
Hey buddy, would lowering the light closer to the plant at an early stage also help with keeping the hight down?

I use 12/12 thru-out (power and space issues). everybody is short.
Increasing, now daily, and will harvest 11/1 surviving plants, regardless 5/1
40,000 LUX at 25 inches and 12 hours. I have two 3 inch flowering ladies, sleeping currently

Yes. More light intensity will decrease the internode spacing, but they will still stretch in flower.
