I did my first runoff test. Is this good?

First runoff test:

pH of 6.1-6.2
Ppm is at 1583

Is this okay? Is the ppm supposed to be at 1000?

Also, when you water do you guys water like this LOL?

Or should I be soaking up the whole pot?

What kind of soil it is? If it’s in fox farm soil, you’re ok. Just give it plain water for another week or two ph’d to 6.5. After that I can imagine it will be asking for food, as the nutrients in the soil are depleted.
It looks fine tho. I would saturate the whole pot tho. Let those roots take off.
Let it dry out good before watering again. Use the weight of the pot to help you gauge when to water again. Should be light as a bag of feathers when ready. (It gets heavier as the plant gains size)

It’s Fox Farm soil, and gotcha. May I ask if I should be using tap water to water? I’ve been using tap water and just used some filtered water today that I let sit at room temp for a bit, then ph’d it up/down. Last time I watered was around 4 days ago, just re-watered now and tested PPM + PH. Also about saturating the whole pot, sorry a lot of info, I’m watering about 1 liter of water every 3-4 days, does that sound good?

Sounds good. I use tap as well. It comes out at 7.6 - 140ppm I ph down to 6.4-6.5 when I use water only in between feeds. This plant hasn’t received any nutrients yet tho. Banana Kush.

Looks amazing, thanks for the help!

Watering in a circle away from the stem helps force the roots to seek water and grow more and stronger.
There are many different fox farm soils and blends. The timing of and the amount of nutrients depends a lot on what soil is used. For example, Ocean Forest is nutrient rich and can carry a plant for 4 to 6 weeks. The runoff PPM will help determine when to start adding nutrients. That is where the 1000 ppm applies.

6.5 is the lowest you want your ph in both liquids you pour in and the soil itself. (Especially at flower) if your ph is lower than 6.5 you begin to lock out phos. SeeNutrient availability chart below.

Notice how the arrow begins to taper off bellow 6.5 for phos. My advice, especially to those growing in FF soils, is to WATER always at 6.8ph, when feeding, use last recorded runoff ph to help you decide what to ph to. If your runoff was below 6.5 ph last water then ph your feed to 6.8 if your runoff is above 6.5ph then ph feed to 6.5. The object is to set the rootzone ph at 6.5. When/if the ph of your runoff drops down to 5.8-6 you will want to flush your soil with 3x the total volume of your pot, with ph stable water at 6.8 ph until the runoff water reads 6.8ph and close to whatever your flush water is in ppm (tds)

Yes infact when your runoff tds drops bellow 1000 it will be time to feed. (Nute solution should be tds at 800-850ppm) more then 900 usually burns my plants. (Most people start at half recommended dose and work up watching plants for signs of nute burn. When the tips singe, you know that they cant handle any more.

Tap is fine as long as there isnt any chloramines in it and if chlorine, has been filtered or off gassed (24 hours open air) my tap water is aweful. It smells like a pool and when you tds it it comes to 375 to 425 ppm (500 tds unfit to drink)

Yes and no. You dont want to water cannabis based on a rigid schedule. The best way IMO is the drench and drought or liftapot methods. (Easily searched terms)
Also, you should not water so close to the stem of your plant. That area is reserved for air roots.

Red is no water zone green is water zone. Rule of thumb, water in a ring about 2 inches away from the tips of your leaves, until they over grow your pot then just anywhere in green zone will do. This is important because roots get lazy and underdeveloped if the water is so easy to find. Bigger roots = Bigger FRUITS so stretch those roots make em hunt that water.

Your plant looks very healthy and on pace. Excellent work!

Thank you very much for the detailed help. I’ll begin watering with a higher pH, I’m currently letting the next watering water sit out to let any “chlorine” that may be in it to air out. I’ll have to practice my watering techniques but next time I’ll water as you showed! Farther from the plant to allow those roots to chase after it. Thanks again!
