I’ve been outdoor for several years now… I’m convinced, I’m going hydro.
I’d like to stick with a 4x4 grow tent for the foot print, but the light I want says 5x5 tent. Is this due to the heat? (SF SE1000) Has anyone ever stuffed one in a 4x4?
Correct me if I’m wrong, but 9 - 12 white widow autos in a 4x4 should be fine. But all the lights I’m seeing are right at the edge or just under what they need for light, if they are recommended for a 4x4 tent.
For a 4x4 tent you’re going to want somewhere in the range of 600 Watts at least of quality LED lighting the se1000 Watt bar light would be beautiful I’m sure the 800 watt light would be great
Don’t know you will be able to fit that many hydro setups in a 4x4 maybe six you still have to service them
I plan on SOG. Which I think max’s out at 16 for 4x4.
@1LuckyMF I do hydro in a 4x4 and I’m about to try a
HLG Scorpion Diablo X that’s rated for a 5x5. I plan on just running it at 80% and seeing what happens. In the past I’ve run a 600w HPS and it’s worked fine.
I would agree if you were in soil but if you’re going to go hydro how are you going to service everything
I’ve been running a scorpion Diablo for the past 2 years in my 4x4 it gives awesome coverage just can’t beat it

You will see once you get to planning it’s not going to be possible for that much in there I will tag you in my journal you can check out my 4x4 there in 3 gallon bags with cocoa and 4 plants is crazy in there granted I am growing photos in a scrog
I will add anything more than 3 or 4 plants in a 4x4 is really gonna be crammed for a hydro grow. At least in my experience. I try and stay at 2-3 max. Just my humble opinion as I’m not a super experienced grower by any means.
Autos in a SoG should be fine from my research.
But I’m flexible, I can always get a second tent… lol.
SOG would work with clones but with autos you may find that you have bitten off more than you can chew.
AC infinity 6" pro, LED driver external to the tent, two or three fans as needed, water reservoir external from the tent. PVC coated screen.
My understanding is .5 to 1 sq foot per plant. Is this not right?
5gal bucket is 12 inch, that would be 9?

Is SOG the same as scrog?
I’ve only been growing since March. I thought scrog was when you do the screen of green. And SOG sea of green was when you make clones. And flower them with the mother. Or is that a third technique
My understanding is SoG works best with clones or Indica dominant autos like white widow. You’re basically pak’n’m in so tight just the main cola produces. Keep air circulating underneath and above, defoliate lower part of plant.
SCroG is on plant spread out to get the buds on the branches going vertical with the branches horizontal. More light on the lower buds equals more yield.
What you’re missing is the plant is going to get a lot bigger than a 5 gallon bucket radius wise once it stretches unless you’re just going to grow a bunch of tiny little Christmas trees which is basically a waste you might as well just grow four good plants and fill the tent at most you will get six in there in hydro and that will be very undoable as far as maintenance what if you have to pull your plants due to root issues what if you need to look at the roots what if you need to get to the underside of the canopies just going to be no room but go ahead and try it you’ll see just because the books say it’s possible does not mean it will work

As soon as I run out of auto seeds, I’ll probably do something different. I have quite a few, so SoG will let me use them up. In my outdoor grows the white widows stay pretty small framed with fat colas and decent branch buds. I could easily see it staying the diameter of a bucket… in a crowd. Without crowding it could be 3’ dia. or more.
That being said I haven’t used LED’s except the first few days for seedlings, and my outdoor grows are partial sun, so LED’s for a full day could be completely different with the outcome from the same seeds.
If you don’t mind can you elaborate, as I’m still in planning, I’d rather catch it now.
