HPS ventilation setup okay?

Do I have this set up correctly? Anything I should add?

I’m not worried about the smell, I do have carbon filters but don’t care. I didn’t want to vent out the window because I want my windows always locked.

Six inch inline fan pulls from the floor, through the 600/750/1000 watt HPS light, preset to come on at 78 F, and output into the attic. (4" ducting in the photo is temporary).

Light is ridiculously hot even set at 600 watts in the fall.

Keeping to only 4 plants in a 4’x4’ grow space since that’s what I read on this forum.

Thanks!!!

My fan pushes air constantly through 2 of these cool tubes in series and the lights don’t overheat
Yours will be fine. Is there a glass cover on your fixture?
I would also hang a white sheet for better light reflection

@Hellraiser used to run HPS and might be able to help you out here

I would run the exhaust fan all the time, can run at a slower speed during lights out but should still have some air moving so you don’t get humidity spikes at night, specially when plants get larger. Setting up some reflective walls or a tent would help make better use of the light.

Yep, there is a glass cover. :+1:

Seems like the fan is on the wrong side to me. Mine sucks air from the light not pushes but maybe I’m wrong

@StonedCold13 @Nicky this look right to you

Mine isn’t a cool tube so I’m unfamiliar with it.

Push or pull works I just prefer to push the air through the lights but the fan will have a longer life if it doesn’t have to deal with the heat from the lights

I gotcha thanks.

Either or, as long as it’s moving cold air by it.

I sent you a pic of cool tube but same same as long as yours has the glass cover. Nice space by the way. As I mentioned before a white sheet would be helpful for light reflection instead of the darker one you’re using

Is it overkill to have a fan on both ends? Push and pull?

This was @spacey grow. I just wasn’t sure on this one

I’ve run it both ways and never a problem that I was aware of. Now on my filters I push out and not suck in. I’m in a very dusty envio so it saves me a little more time on my filters and no pre filter needed.

I have a 6 inch carbon filter in most hooked straight to a 6 inch inline fan above the lights pushing through roof vents. I try to keep my heat in the winter

Well @spacey sounds like the consensus is that your good bro. I don’t like the fan on the floor, it’s just me but I like mine up higher and bolted to the wall.

Another suggestion I would make is to move your light to the corner more where you would have two walls close to your plants instead of one. Paint them flat white.

If your only going to grow two plants look into these new tents everyone uses. It would be a much better use of your light with the reflective walls and would give you the use of most of your room back. Good luck!

In my opinion the 2nd fan would be unnecessary
