I’m moderately frustrated with my ability to take photos of trichome development. Moderately because I’m pretty sure I’ve got a couple weeks yet. Here’s the issue:
I have a handheld microscope from Amazon that does a fab job when I take a pic of the weave of my trousers (do you really want to see that? Thought not.). I have a macro lens for my iPhone that also does a fine job getting ultra-closeup. My issue is that I can’t get focus on the surface of the bud! The handheld is shaky when I hand hold, in the wrong spot when I mount - and the autofocus on the IPhone is focused in the wrong spot.
How in the heck are you doing tric pics? Clipping a bit off, holding the bud against the cam, or just being younger less shaky than this old man can manage? Something incredibly clever I haven’t thought of? What FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY are you doing?
I bought one of those digital Otoscopes off of Amazon that came with a tripod. Here’s what I do (don’t kick yourself too hard lol): clip a tiny sample of flower from two or three different colas. I mean 1/8" or less. Place on a sheet of copy paper, carry in the house, set on the kitchen counter then set up Otoscope. Here’s my result:
@DrWoo I also have a microscope cam thingy from Amazon… I use a microphone stand thingy…i clamp it to a deskish thing and put my plant next to it… Can scope the whole plant.
I have a steady hand but most phones have a photo burst option where it takes several photos in succession. There should be some clear ones in the burst and just delete the blurry ones
I had a problem with blurry too. I bought a cheap tripod and duct taped microscope to it. put on a table close to cola and voila. Still not perfect, but gotta love duct tape.
Burst mode didn’t much. The stillier I tried to be the shakier I got. I ordered a mountable microphone arm on Amazon for $20 that will be here tomorrow.
Getting good pictures is a real challenge. I use double sided tape to stick my lope to the back of my phone over the camera. I then zoom my phone camera all the way. The part that helps me most is the Bluetooth remote camera button. I don’t shake the phone taking the pictures.
