Hey all, so it looks like an early fall here in the northeast. Night time temps dipping to the low to mid 40’s. I’m probably 3/4 weeks into flower have about 4/5 weeks left. Besides putting heaters out in the garden, is there a good way to protect them from the night-time chill? I can’t construct a green house, I also can’t move them (they’re in 15 gal pots but they’re netted, 10’ tall, etc) Would putting plastic drop cloth type plastic over them be a bad idea? Just drape the plastic on the plants? Or would that create a good place for mold? Ideas?
If you can make a portable frame to put over them, that would be best. I’m not sure how large they are, just guessing.
You just don’t want the plastic making contact with the flowers. (As little as possible)
As long as this is removed every day, I see no issues.

I wish I had the funds to make 7 individual green houses lol or one giant one but my funds are limited af right now.

Limited on money, put some stakes in the ground and cover them with sheets from the house at night. As @Covertgrower said you.dont want them touching the flowers and still remove each morning. Should help right down to freezing. We lightweight fabric on the farm to protect plants in the same fashion with row cover.

I’m in VT. Temps hitting low 40’s at night for the foreseeable future.
The plants can handle it as long as there’s no frost.
Cold temps slow them down quite a bit. Flowering time can extend longer than the season.
Good news is that you’re more likely to see some purpling due to low temps.

I need to find a better location for my garden lol. All my plants are in pots on top of hard clay/rocks/roots. I’ll just let it ride and hope for the best. I’m worried about the sheets touching, which will happen regardless. The only way I could do anything that would do any good would to drape lightweight plastic aheets over all plants individually, which would obviously drastically increase the chances of mold and bud rot. Since it’s not dropping below 40, I’ll just let them ride it out lol

The cold we’ve already had has pulled the purple out…
The majority of the rest look good and frosty
