From a fellow grower: i am interested in producing big yields and i had a question if you might help. is it better to grow 2 harvests of hundreds of autoflowers (55 days seed to harvest) with SOG technique,
or growing 1 harvest of big plants (3 months seed to harvest) with LST training.
at the moment i am growing big plants, 18-20 plants, producing 5-6kg, but i was thinking that for the same overall time (nearly 3 months) the autoflowers would give a sum of 10-12 kilos.
grow space is 10m2 with 10x600watt HPS lights and seed cost is not a problem.
i would really appreciate an answer knowing your great experience in marijuana growing. maybe a suggestion on the number of plants would be even better…

After growing autos and photos. Id say reg photos will give u more yoeld than an auto would. If ur good enough u can get a nice chunk from autos but all in all the photos are where its at. Most like will be a bigger harvest and a more potent harveat. Good luck buddy. Sound like a fun time with that many plants at once lol.

The most vigorous, high-yielding plants are from regular seeds, not feminized. That’s the first thing: genetics.
Next, for pure yield the fastest method I know of is this: find a plant whose genetics you want to work with. Keep plant in veg as a Mother and take clones to populate an ebb and flow tray. Veg clones for 2 weeks then flip to 12/12. Roughly 60 days later, harvest and repeat.
The downside is you have to keep a separate space for keeping plant/s in veg.
This is what I’m currently doing now. Harvest every 75 days.

so you are suggesting that i should grow photoperiod plants and choose the 2 harvest method for a bigger overall yield/year.
can you or someone suggest what would the perfect number of plants per m2. (i was thinking 16 plants each in square pots 6 liters each, losing no space at all). keep in mind that i am trying to have a 5-6 kg in 55 days instead of 3 months…
so doing the math i am trying to get 30 grams minimum per plant. (16 * 30 = 480grams/m2 giving so 4,8kg minimum per 55days).

Ur gonna have to get a nice flow going. Im sure what u r wanting is gonna take a bit of time to get the process started. Start with so many plants and a week or so later start more and so on keep the process rolling til u harvest what u r looking for at the time u want it. Once u have a flow go with it and stick to it. Im sure u can get a harvest like u want every other week or every month/year just will take a bit to get started. Im not a sog guy i just grow 12 plants and try to get them as big as i can. Its all personal for me so no.biggie on how long it takes as 12 plants should get me thru every harvest no problem. Good luck. Woah. Im sure its possible with time to start just looked up kilos to pounds and 12 to 13 lbs every 55 days will take a minute to get rolling for sure. And im sure will take a chunk of space. How big an area u playing with

16 clones in a sea of green would work nice in a m2 space but dense SOG does not work so well with plants from seed. With seed plants you’ll get much better yields from topping and more veg growth time and doing 4 plants in a m2 space. I harvest every 8-10 weeks using separate veg and flower tents.

i am new myself on sog technique that is why i ask a lot (not started yet actually)
place is 10m2 with 600watt HPS lights. pots are 11 liters and i can fit 15-16 of them per m2. i also use a good amount of plant nutrients combined with water which improve my quality and quantity.
@Hellraiser can you help me out bro, since i am hearing that you are the sog method experts?
i dont actually have a tent. i have a grow room and the real size of the room is 30m2. i am great in growing big plants. i just dont know a lot about sog technique … (i said 10m2 space to make it easier to imagine for you guys)
if i can wait 10 weeks i can also wait 12 weeks from my big plants. cant you see bro? i am trying to start growing photoperiod plants. 55 days start to finish. (55 days max actually beacuse i got seeds that only take 45 days)
I don’t see how that’s possible starting from seed.

hahahhaa dont worry about that bruv… i got it coverd. the plants only grow 50-100 cm and not bushy.

14 plants per m2, 45-55 days start to finish, 11 liters pots for each plant filled with organic soil and hydroton in the half end.
600watt HPS lights
Water is filled with nutrients to feed the plants
that is how we just finished planting today the germinated seeds and i will leave the in veg only for 4-5 days (enough to reach ~20cm)
do you think i will reach to at least 500gr/m2 in the end ?

Why autos? Why not photos? Clone photos and they are mature from day 1. They only need time to grow decent roots. Do a sog grow and you will grow way more dope than autos!
Simple fact, in the same floor space over a 1 year period, a photo clone sog grow will out pruduce any other method hands down.
I grow 2 pound and up plants, but they take a full season to grow. In that time, under lights you could, in theory do a continuos harvest with the right setup using clones. Or do staggered harvests and grow only bud and barely any plant.

If you are growing from seed and want maximum harvest weight, you should be growing outdoor full season plants. If you are growing infoor and strickly for sheer volume you should grow photo moms… clone the shit out of em and grow em just enough to get good root and maybe some branches just starting and wham! Flip em! With autos you need to germinate… dobthe seedling thing, do the veg thing and then they flip when they feel like it, not when you say so. With photos you can trigger em any time you want.
This is maximum harvest weight… are you doing this indoors?

and yes i love growing outdoor if the sun and full space but i dont have the luxury.
anyway i am an auto fan and i am doing the SOG with them. they only take 45-55 days seed to harvest… so they dont actually need a lot of time to switch to flowering …
maybe i try photos in the next harvest but than i will still have to make a mothers room. if that build i made (mentioned up) reaches to 500gr/m2 in 45-55 days than i will stick to it, which i think is more than achievable.
ps: i would love to pay a visit to your farm. i am a fan of anyone who grows outdoor and especially the giant trees not plants … i have read humboldt dream reaches up to 5 meters outside and that is a dream to try but maybe in the future if weed is legalized in my country or if i move somewhere else
